Four out of 10 white people do not want an Asian or black Briton as their neighbour, according to a survey published this week.
The opinion poll found rocketing concern about immigration and asylum combined with ignorance about basic facts about the issue and growing resentment.

the only thing I ever want from a neighbour is the fact they are respectful to their neighbours!

Yes agreed Beth.
My neighbour could be from the Planet Mars, I wouldn't be bothered, just so long as they are decent, neighbourly and respectful. :D

I'm with you all on this one.
Absolutely all I care about in a neighbour is that we all don't disturb each other and that they are not offensive to myself or anyone else in the locality. Everything else is immaterial to me. And I'm very proud to live in the multi-ethnic area that I live in...I think it enriches my life and the area itself in many ways.
The report shows some alarming, but sadly, unsurprising attitudes :(
Don't think this is a very tolerant society in general, sadly.

uhhuh am with you there HN, unfortunately my black neighbour has a huge chip on her shoulder, and anything going wrong with her life means that she shouts the race card from her rooftops and the police come running, nothing to do with the fact that she is a loud mouth unpleasant human being of course! :angry:
I have no problem with what race, colour or creed she is, i am disappointed that she isn't someone that likes to pop in for a coffee and a yap *sigh*

there are a lot of closet racists out there, especially amongst the middle classes who might think they are all liberal but when it comes down to it they are as bigoted as any stereotypical white 'working class' yobbo.
plus they are NIMBY's as well.
someone i know lives in dagenham (east london) and has seen three houses on her road sell very quickly and is worried about 'what kind of person' will move in..making it quite obvious what she is getting at .....ITS DAGENHAM i wanted toyell at her...an intensely mixed multiracial area!!! some people make me sick! :angry: :mad:
I dont care who lives next door to me as long as they dont have screaming brats, make a load of racket or generally be obnoxius, like my old NFH, (who were white)!
well, we all know that NFH come in all shapes, sizes, sexes and colours!

It will be a happy day when the two white people next door move out.
Frankly dont care what skin colour the new neighbours are as long as they
are normal human beings.
Well I wouldn't want to live next to one of the Four - ignorant bigots.
Oh, I think I DO live next to one of them :sad: .
