Man who tormented neighbours could be jailed if he speaks to them, under Asbo (http://www.thisishullandeastriding.co.uk/news/Neighbour-hell-banned-speaking-neighbours-Asbo-ruling/article-2206689-detail/article.html)

A man who "tormented" his next-door neighbours has been banned from speaking to them in the first case of its kind in the region.
Graham Walker (http://www.thisishullandeastriding.co.uk/topics/person/grahamwalker) faces being fined and even jailed if he as much as says "hello" to his neighbours in terraced Richmond Road, Hessle.
The 44-year-old has been given a five year anti-social behaviour order (asbo), which bans him from communicating directly or indirectly with the family living next door or any of their visitors.
Police say it comes after a three-year dispute which began after one member of the family objected to Walker peering into their garden and making comments.
Since then, it is claimed the neighbours and their visitors have faced abuse and threats from Walker and even witnessed him using a sledge hammer to smash their fence.
In the end, they resorted to using a video camera to record self-employed joiner Walker being abusive.
Hessle Neighbourhood officer, PC Tracey Chaney (http://www.thisishullandeastriding.co.uk/topics/person/traceychaney), praised the residents who were brave enough to report him.
She said: "He is a neighbour from hell.
"I don't know how the residents have put up with him. If it was me, I would have moved.
"He is an aggressive, angry man who tormented his neighbours over a long period of time.
"Since a fall out about three years ago, he has never left them alone.
"The evidence captured by the neighbours was compelling. It showed him shouting and swearing at them and lasted a few minutes, even though they did not retaliate.
"He is well known in Hessle because he often causes problems when in drink.
"He has shown no remorse for what he has done.
"We know that a couple of residents have been forced to move from Richmond Road because he was so bad.
"However it has been a real slog for us to bring it to this stage because although people told us what he was doing, they would not make statements because they are too scared of him."
