View Full Version : Shattered
Shattered finished just about a week ago now...have we all forgotten about it already? ;)
All that media hype! I only saw a couple, didn't follow it all. :)
Have we actually learned or gained anything form those unfortunates who had a competition to see who could stay awake the longest? (not too much sarcasm please  )
I have many concerns aboout this kind of thing - it surely messes with your health - all for the sake of TV??

I watched most of it and from what i can gather they (i.e. sleep researchers doctors etc) have learned an awful lot from this 'experiment' and a lot of previously held assumptions have been proved wrong, e.g. that your libido increases when you are sleep deprived (how I do not know!).
mind you they did get to sleep for a couple of hours per day and i think that helped them to keep going.
the girl who won was quite amazing really, she had a will of steel and was totally determined to get to the end. i was pleased she won.
it was an interesting programme but i hope they dont do it again. once was good enough!
i did enjoy having a goggle at dermot o'leary, hes so lush!!!

Oooooooh yes, I heard about this prog, but yet I never watched any of it.
Who won and how long did they stay awake for then? :D
Well, a police cadet called Claire won it - she was really really determined to win, you could just tell she would do it :) .
I kinda admire her grit really!
They were (about 8 or 10 people??Can't remember exactly) challenged to stay awake for a week - although after a couple of days they were allowed a 'catnap' for 2 hours every day (for health and safety reasons, apparently  ) .
It was quite interesting really because they explained what happens to you when you become sleep deprived and it explained a lot about me  . I discovered loads about myself !!!!
So now I know I'm not totally mad, just a bit sleep deprived :hihi:
I don't think there's any mileage in another show like that though :) .
