Hi folks, what a super duper forum this is, I am terribly excited!!! :P
I just had to start a thread about my (almost) totally favourite TV station, yes I am very sorry to confess I cannot live without
QVC!!!! :notworthy:
I have to completely blame my sister for getting me into this channel about three years ago, but I have had a lot of enjoyment from this channel, not just from the (multitudinous) purchases I have made from them, but also because the way they sell is so chummy....if there is nothing on the other channels , i stick QVC on and have a goggle at that (unless they are doing something really dull, like DIY or digital imaging... )
Of course the old Ball and chain totally hates it and gets very uptight when i order something, but i just ignore him!!!!
Now then I have also dipped into IDEAL World, but I dont find it as professional as QVC.
Anyone else a fan of TV shopping channels , do tell us your experinces or tips!
look for ideas on QVC and then leave it a few weeks...........everything pops up on the market soon enough and at a lower price!!

I have bought a few things from QVC in the past
But what makes me really laugh is all the other TV shopping channels that are constantly showing those infomercials, usually for sporting equipment, kitchen equipment or NADS hair removal system!
Paul Lavers (one of the founders of Ideal World) is a regular on these and they can be cringworthy in the extreme. BTW - have just found this site!! Paul Lavers Official Website! (http://www.paullavers.shoppingtelly.com/)
And don't even get me started on the auction channels!
This is too bad - how could you, Shopping Channels, tut!!!!
I used to buy stuff off QVC and get derision from my OH...until he saw DIY with Harry Greene and oh dear, now my garage is full of unopened boxes of 'really indespensable' gadgets - grrrrrr :frown: :hihi: (thankfully Harry has just retired, so I am hoping the no of boxes arriving weekly will 'retire' too  .)
Ohh BC, you seem to know way too much - am a bit worried about that  :P
I've seen that NADS thing too - I thought it was for sommat completely different to what it actually is for  CRINGE!!

I spend too much time on the computer and the cable tv's in the house are downstairs and in my son's room. So I only have the terrestrial channels on my little bedroom tv.
But I quite often go down and find my husband salivating over some new gadget on QVC :P My daughter used to work for QVC dealing with customer complaints.....lots of customer complaints ;)

We got the Freeview box for Christmas and ever since, I have been glued to:
- Price drop TV
- Bid up TV
 I have now just about worked out how the first one works, but not the 2nd!
Fantastic  Love 'em  What tat
Curtains on there going for £48 (and they think that's cheap? ) - they go for £20 on our market :P  .
Did see some rather nice 'Lola Rose' jewellry on QVC the other day  .
Eeeeeehhh
This is so excruciating
Bid Up TV!!!
Oh My!
I can't take the hammy behaviour of the presenters with that hammer thing (gavel??)
Ooops, given the game away now (that I have seen them)
It's so true - it's such tat that any (dis) respectful market will peddle at half the price

Really Misty, oh go on spill the beans.
Actually I don't really have any beans to spill. It was a while ago when daughter worked for QVC so things might have changed now.
Oh, I heard of a website where you can bid on stolen property ;) It's www.propertyroom.com and it's stolen property from across the US that cannot be reunited with owners so the police put it up for auction. I heard someone (in US of course) bought a Harley Davison for $1,600 which must have been a bargain. I'm not sure if they ship overseas but I might take a look myself later :D

I clicked on that link Blue Cow, I thought it would be someone else, I was thinking of Steve Whatley, who also co owns a bit if IDEAL World...he is the most cringemungous presenter going...when he was selling fake tan and was prancing about in his swimming trunks...welll. i nearly lost my dinner..... :wow:  i thought it couldnt possible get any worse but no, i tuned into it one day and there he was, in those trunks again 8-X :wow: this time 'demonstrating' paddling pools, splashing about as only he can!!!!!!
hes a mad one!!!!

Ahhh Steve Whatley - the king of UK TV shopping
They are both ex-QVC :D
Steve Whatley's nickname used to be Mr. Diamonique as it was he who famously brought it to QVC (bit of TV shopping trivia for you there!)

OOOHH i did know that you know, that he was on QVC, but it seems hard to believe they would have someone of his ilk on there, especially not when they are doing diamonique...they take it terribly serious these days! :D
did you ever see french and saunders do a sketch on shopping channels...it was hilarious ..they had the presenters off to a tee, selling 'gemonique'
qvc has been a bit boring these past few weeks (thank GOD, says the hubby) havent seen a good TSV for ages!
