View Full Version : Nation's Favourite Sitcoms
I forgot all about it and so missed it - was just wondering who won - I've even gone to the extreme of setting up a new forum area to find out !
Was it a worthy winner?
:D

Let me put you out of your misery!
the programme counted down the top one hundred sitcoms but when it got to the top ten they were presented in no particular order with the idea that the public will vote for their favourites and thus determine the top ten.
it will be like the Big Read (which I absolutely LOVED) , over the next ten weeks each sitcom will be showcased leading up to a grand final.
the top ten are
Blackadder (all the series)
Dads Army
Fawlty Towers
The Good Life
One Foot In the Grave
Only Fools and Horses
Open All Hours
Porridge
Vicar of Dibley
Yes Minister
You can vote online or phone up...all the info is on the BBC website!!!
i have voted for my favourite!!! It was very hard to decide and i am already changing my mind!

Thanks Annabel
Who chose that top ten BTW? As it's a bit of an odd mix B)
;) Have just voted for Only Fools and Horses
Aha!
I see. I thought that the Nation had already decided - So I haven't missed it really then. B)
I can't even guess which one will win out of that lot...Only Fools...? Fawlty Towers...? Poridge...?
I liked Blackadder but can't see it winning...Ugh, fed up with Dad's Army, hope that doesn't win  .
Oh just not sure!

tonite they will be showcasing blackadder, should be a laugh. my favourite blackadder was the one during queen elizabeth 1st's time. i thought miranda richardson was great in that. B)
i was reading the sun (online) and their tv critic made a very valid point, all of the top ten are bbc comedies, where are all the good itv ones...however, i am finding it hard to think of any !!!! :)
It was quite good last night !
Watched it with oldest boy (9) and he was in stitches. Luckily the more risque jokes went right over his head
I liked the first series and the one with Bob/Queenie and all them. Didn't really get into the first world war one - but it was great to see that episode last night!
Can't see it winning though :(

I enjoyed it as well last nite, especially the little clip of miriam margolyeswith the crosses on her head and shoulders, hee hee
i think its a forgone conclusion which sitcom is going to win somehow, but i think it might be fun to guess what order the top ten will be, shall we have a little punt on this..a bottle of virtual plonk and a takeaway meal to the winner!!! :pizza: :wine:
i suggest the top ten will be as follows :
in reverse order:
10. Open All Hours
9. Yes minister
8. Blackadder
7. Dads Army
6. The Good Life
5. Vicar of Dibley
4. Porridge
3. Fawlty Towers
2. One Foot in the Grave
1. Only Fools and Horses
anyone else want a guess?
Just thought I'd dig this one out :)
This hasn't really caught everyone's imagination much really, has it?
But just for info, the 'Grand Finale' is this evening with a live show planned to announce the 'Nation's Favourite Sitcom' .
I think that Only Fools is tipped to win, but who knows with it being a live final and all that :)
I dont know who I would want to win, I do know who I dont want to win though
fools and horses!!! I cant abide that that programme!! I think its because my dad made us watch it when I was little!
I do like ronnie barker, but not so keen on david jason, so I am a bit confused as I like open all hours if you know what I mean, but I think I like porridge more
I also like fawltey towers and the good life!
what a muddle, who will win?????
