Hi all,
I'm looking to move out of my property as soon as I can, but it's easier said than done!
I've gone on to homeswapper, but I can'imagine anyone wanting to swap their detached or semi detached for a maisonette, especially when they see the state it is in (as well as the neighbours!)
I've also looked at these affordable home schemes. They don't seem that affordable to me! Even the basic properties are extortionate, and I'm wondering exactly how these schemes are supposed to be better than traditional property ownership....
....which I can't get, and it's really annoying. My new job is on a not o bad salary of £17k / annum. I'm currently paying £300 a month rent. I've looked at mortgages and realistic repayments on the amount I want is slightly more than what I'm paying now, but I can't get a mortgage!
So that leaves either council properties which i dont want because they only offer flats and I am NEVER living in one after my experience - houses are reserved for families (which I don't have).
And the other option is renting privately, but the costs per month are almost as much as I'm earning.
I'd really like to consider shared housing, but they are asking for sums of money that I simply do not have and seems to be more than what you would pay privately.
For example, one property (a 2 bed "town house" - i.e, maisonette) required someone to have a net salary of £17000 per year as well as savings:eek:. Just who the hell has that money? I'd have though if you had that much, then you could afford to buy privately.
Or am I getting the wrong end of the stick?
