A SWARM of bees face an animal ASBO after terrorising the family who live next door to their owner.

Website designer Tony Dyson, 47, has gone to court to seek an "annoying creatures petition" against the bees which belong to his neighbour.

Tony said he and his wife and children have been regularly attacked by swarms of black bees and repeatedly stung.

He said that on one recent occasion, his hand swelled up to twice its normal size after he suffered a reaction to a sting.

Now he and his wife Nessa McHugh have raised a court action against beekeeper David ********man in order to have him move the hives.

Tony said he believed ********man had deliberately moved the bees closer to his property because of an ongoing feud between the neighbours.

Perth Sheriff Court heard last month how ********man, 45, and his partner Bill Young, 51, attacked Tony in his garden.

In the latest action, lodged at Perth's Justice of the Peace Court, Tony said: "We have been having problems with Mr ********man for over two years now.

"He lives next door to us and we share a communal drive. Last year, we were stung many times by Mr ********man's bees but he refused to take any action to lessen this annoyance.

"He has brought them back and has taken to leaving beehives or a van full of hives with its window open outside our driveway.

"I was stung on the hand a few weeks ago by one of his bees. They are black bees and so they are easily recognisable. My hand swelled up to twice its normal size and stayed that way for several days.

"This was my worst reaction ever to a sting which makes me rather worried about being stung around the face.

"Recently he has taken to leaving live beehives in the communal area at the bottom of our drive.

"On June 20, he left his van with the window open directly outside our driveway so that a swarm of bees hung at the side of the van where we would park our second car or where visitors would park.

If these allegations are correct, then the bee-keeper's actions are totally unacceptable. Bees, properly kept with due regard to needs of neighbours, should never be any kind real threat. Unless stressed in some way, they are normally peaceful creatures and their flight lines can be organised to stop them from making excessive entries into neighbouring properties. I am really concerned to hear that a bee-keeper is so unconcerned for his bees that he uses them to apparently terrorise a neighbour. Totally unacceptable (if, indeed, it is a true account of the situation).

Caution: "Never believe anything you read in the papers" !!!
