Is it just me or has Royal Mail got a LOT worse recently?

I've not received any parcels at all in over a month, just the "you were out" cards. My wife was definitely in. I caught him one time and asked him for my parcel. He admitted he didn't have it, and that they had already tried to deliver it the previous day. He claimed that he was told not to take it again as it was too big.

It was no bigger than any other parcel, about 5"x3"x2".

In another instance I repeatedly rang the sorting office to ask about the whereabouts of a missing parcel. After about a week of trying, I phoned the seller and got a refund. A week and a half later the postie put a "you were out" card with "final reminder" written on it. Lo and behold it was my missing parcel, which I obviously now needed to return as I had procured a refund.

Since I do online shopping I know exactly when my parcels are sent. Now Royal Mail claim they deliver 88% of 1st class mail the next day, and that they are aiming for 92%.

I have never, ever received 1st class parcels the next day - I've been expecting my current one for 3 days.

I think my local sorting office must be worse or something - things only got this bad when I moved to this town in the summer.

I am getting sick of it, they are now completely unreliable. I think I just need to start checking the more expensive "deliver by courier" box as Royal Mail simply cannot be trusted any more. It's a shame when companies no longer do what you pay them for.

Has anyone else had this problem?

The guy who delivers our parcel post is fine, but I am having problems with letter post

If it arrives at all  it is late afternoon and yesterday I was at the door and took the post off the postie and found one for our house number but a couple of streets away. This has been happening 2 or 3 times a week  I gave it back to him and told him it wasn't for this address - I remember the envelope well as it had a large sticker on it and a bit of dirt. Today the post arrived with the same letter I gave back to the postman yesterday  plus 2 others for the same address again!! :banghead: I seem to be spending half the week re directing someone elses post recently

I don't know what is going on

Just imagine how much better it will be when the government takes over completely (joke). My OH worked for Royal Mail for over 25 years - starting from the floor to management level - you wouldnt believe the stories I could tell and that was when we actually had a company that wasnt that bad called GPO, Post Office telephones and Parcel Post. Now its Royal mail, BT and Parcelforce and it is so much worse.:(

Our postman is a decent enough guy, he is known as the jogging postman BUT We constantly get mail for other houses in our street, I should get a wage for the amount I redeliver.

We have a lot of post go missing, including a regular magazine subscription and post that comes through the door at odd times, having been opened.

Most unbelieveable of all was a parcel just before Xmas that was left on the garden wall in clear view of the main road!:mad:

We did report it to Royal Mail, and things were better for a while, but it went back to "normal" after a few months,:(
