xBox live problems

Hi, it's a long shot, has anyone any ideas about this...?

I'm being driven insane by a terribly upset and frustrated son who suddenly cannot connect to xBox live any more.

It was all working fine until a couple of days ago when the xbox stopped recognising the IP address. We've only got an ethernet cable connecting the pc to the xbox and nothing has changed.

He's tried setting it to detect automatically the ip address and checked all cables etc etc but it keeps failing at the ip recognition. We've put the ip address in manually but it is not having it.

Any ideas anyone...? :help:

try manually changing the PC's ip address. if its anything like a ps3 then if the xbox has the same ip address as the pc then it wont connect

or, change the xbox ip address. just the last digit should do, up or down one number

Aw thanks BM. We tried manually changing the IP address on the xbox by using he exact IP on the pc but it wouldn't have it. Then we tried by changing the last three digits to add on '10' but it still wouldn't have it.

It says to turn the modem off and leave it for a while which we did and I even powered down the entire pc over night but it still won't connect.

At a total loss with it :( . I was pleased initially as I think he plays it too much but now even I'm feeling sorry for him as he can't chat to his pals any mre... ;) .
