ONLY check on near neighbours who are likely to recognise you.
IF you don't know the person well, a brief doorstep chat might be enough.
ASSESS whether you could make regular visits - and not just in winter.
DO it because you want to, not because you feel you have to.
OFFER to take in some hot food but check for special dietary needs.
ASK if they have everything they need to keep warm.
OFFER to clear paths if they are iced up or covered in snow. Being stuck indoors can lead to depression.

IF that doesn't work, get in touch with the landlord or the police.
