Latch rug making a stress relief hobby

Hi Everybody,
Has any one tried the famous Latch rug making? i did find this hobby very much a stress relief hobby.
EBay sells loads of different patterns and different size of rugs if you did want to purchase these kits from a hobby stores they can be very expensive.
Latch hooks are not included in some kits and can also be expensive but i have made a child's rug for my niece she loves it i did purchase two small rug kits and sewn them both together when finished it looked great and brought pure pleasure making them.
I will get back to doing them in the near future i have two kits unopened and one kit half done because the quilts take all my time up at the moment:)

Gosh that's a blast from the past kebea :lol: I made one of those when I was a teenager - more years ago than I care to mention. I didn't realise you could still get them.

Lol Sp54 there is quiet a few on the auction site the bigger ones are very expensive but i am for hand made items its great making them and great to see the finshed product in your home when finished :):)

I have a latch tool but I end up using it on my knitted fabric to latch plastic strips etc into it...i use it experimentally in my work. I havent made anything from a pattern.

ohh just seen this a absolute relaxing pastime of mine ..since i was younger using my old clothes with my mum and making rugs as presents ..ive now got my sons girlfriend hooked (mind the pun) she does all the winnie poo and cuddlier types . ive recently finnished a big rug of my cats i made the pattern myself ..basically just drew cat shapes onto canvas and hey presto ..just also completed one with the name of my aunts guest house on which is a pressie for christmas as she loves things homemade...
im also doing some sunflower pillows ..i use everything from old clothes ,to rug wool .to just plain wool ..even considered making strips of all those spare carrier bags just to see what would it would look like ..

i get a lot of tools from carboots and charity shops..seem rather expensive on ebay ... but yes it certainly is relaxing and takes your mind of other issues ...

youtube have some great videos on rug making ..while looking recently i came across locker rugs ..couldnt find the tool anywhere except 1 on ebay ..so got it to give it a whirl ...great you can make anything from rugs to coasters this way ...if you want a change from latch rugs why not give this a go ..another great stress busting hobby ....
