Thank you Beth for getting this up and running me and the other members are very grateful for letting us all chat about different types of hobbies.

I now have to learn how to put pictures of my work on this hobby corner post so if anyone out there could please let me know how to do this it would be very much appreciated:)

OK everyone a bit about me and my work:)
I work as a self employed quilt and patchwork designer meaning i create my own quilt designs and hand sew most of the quilts which does take a lot of time. Some of the patchwork bags i made are made part sewing machine part hand sewn but i never make anything all by machine.

I do get plenty of orders which keeps me busy and i work up to 12 hours a day sewing which sometimes can give me serve migraine's but hey i love my work:)

Hi Kebea :D
I think patchwork quilts look beautiful and you must have such patience to hand sew them :o How long does it take to make one?

Beth made a post yesterday explaining how to upload piccies :)

Look forward to seeing some pics of your work

Hi Sp54,
I have just found the post from Beth and i am now going to follow the links,
Quilts can take up to 6 months depending on size and pattern my longest one i made was an American design called the wedding ring which took me 9 months and this was constant sewing because the quilts has loads of tiny pieces of fabric to link together and if one piece of fabric is not sewn right it messes up the whole of the quilt and then it is a case of unpicking all the hard work put in

Hi There,
I am at this moment i am making a 12 block hexagon quilt, the hexagons are 3 inches in size and each block has over 60 hand sewn hexagons each together i am naming this quilt Margarets flowers after my gran this is a order for a dear old 72 year old lady and so far i have achieved 4 blocks each block is 21 inches wide and 26 inches long. If the pictures do not work this time i am going to have to put the picture of the block on my profile pic for all to see

OK because my pictures are so big and i do not have a picture programme to cut them down to a size to fit this website i will add to profile until i find a suitable picture programme hope you like the profile picture of quilt block this is one of 12 blocks:)

Hi Annabel,
I have seen the quilts on QVC but believe me my quilts are my own designs and not copied from a Indian quilt company..:)

Hi Everybody:)
Hope you all have been busy with your different hobbies this weekend:)
Apart from my poor partner having the FLU and:doctor: refusing to be looked after or stay away from work this morning because he is ill i did manage to get on with the rest of another block for this quilt tho i have now reviced another order for a king sized Puffa patchwork quilt which takes me 6 months to complete this one is part hand sewn and part machine sewn because if i did this quilt all by hand it would take me a whole year.

These quilts are unique no one else does them each individual patchwork pocket is sewn then stuffed with soft peeca stuffing then hand embroidered onto the next pocket patch. A king size one has nearly 500 4 Inch patch pockets per side

I will start this one in February and hope to get some pictures of it as i go along
