A FAMILY branded neighbours from hell have been warned by a court, “Swear in public and you could lose your home”.

A strict court order has been given to Susan Arnold and her family, of Newby Road, Breightmet, after neighbours reported a catalogue of anti-social behaviour. They could be evicted if they do not put a stop to their abusive ways.

Manchester County Court heard that over a two-year period residents reported Miss Arnold and her family were responsible for: l Acts and making threats of violence; l Using foul, abusive and insulting language; l Criminal damage to property, including graffiti and throwing rocks at neighbours’ windows; l Hurling missiles at residents, police officers and police community support officers Ten neighbours gave evidence against the family and a judge has now made them the subject of a two-year suspended possession order.

The order affects Miss Arnold, aged 50, her partner Raymond Gibson, aged 37, her eldest son Alan Carney, aged 19, and two teenage daughters and teenage son, who were not named.

The family has been ordered not to threaten, swear at, harass or assault any member of the public living in the area or any police officer.

Insp John Boyce, head of Bolton East Division, said: “I commend the resolve and determination of the local community in providing information to Bolton at Home and the police.

“Their determination to stand up to Susan Arnold and her family has brought about this strict court order to control their behaviour.

“This order is welcome in protecting residents from the excesses of one family who have brought misery to many residents in and around Newby Road.”

The order states that the defendant, her household and visitors must not: do anything which would cause a nuisance; annoy or disturb any person living in North Breightmet; threaten, harass or physically assault any person living in the locality and use their house in relation to anything which is illegal Miss Arnold has been told to clear her front and back gardens and the ginnel next to her house by January 5 and to keep them free from rubbish.

She has also been ordered to pay Bolton at Home £3 a week towards £2,292 of rent arrears and damage to the property.
