:D Trust you BM!!!

Well of course they do like all the creatures in this world.:p

Actually I think they originated from the Far East, just look at this link (http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/2007/06/070628-cat-ancestor.html)

modern day cats are descended from Felis sylvestris. thats probably the same as in your link LP.

i couldnt help it, my first thought in answer to original question "where do cats come from?" was, mostly they come from my house. in the case of my cat Teddy the answer would be, "from behind and with no warning" :hihi:. the god story was funnier though ;)

actually that's myth that cats and dogs hate each other unless they are brought up together. Dogs chase cat because they run..insinct to chase. Cats run because they are wary of things they are not familiar with.

I always thought cats originated from the middle east/north africa.

one of my cats definitely has the small pointy features of an egyptian cat (underneath all his fluff), however, the other one has a more rounded head, so i think he descended from the european line.

my cats dont really like any other animals and keep away from them all and they are wary of other humans too. i think its a survival technique.

i've tried explaining that to the couple of my cats that run but they don't get it (or maybe they just ignore me). most of my cats have smacked the dogs on the odd occassion but they get on fine the majority of the time.

i wish mine were wary like Annabels but most of them are very trusting and friendly.

Hiya :hihi:

Thanks for that guys, I always sort of wondered. Found this, just for info

Quote

In Bubastis, or Tell Basta, the cats lived a lavish life as the `embodiment' of Bastet in her temples. Here they were served upon and taken care of until they passed away, and it was here that their bodies were mummified and given as offerings to Bastet. Bubastis contains the remains of over 300,000 cat mummies. Giza, Abydos, and Dendereh were also feline tomb cities other than Bubastis.

When a cat died their former owners and occupants of the house would go into deep mourning and shave their eyebrows as a sign of grief. People are not the only mummies in Egypt, as the cat was also mummified significantly.

Nothing has changed very much in 4,000 + years, has it, my animal is still Served upon, and has us wraped around her paw.:lol::lol::lol:

i couldn't agree more . people who claim not to like cats just have no idea what they are missing. such a shame really, you can't ever be lonely with a cat and there's always a reason to smile when there's one (or 2 or loads) around :D

I have some fridge magnets about cats:

People who don't like cats were mice in a previous life.
The more I learn about men the more I love my cat.
Talk to the paw.
If you want the best seat in the house, move the cat.
Cats rule the earth you know, they let us share it just for show.
Dogs have owners, cats have staff.

So true xx
