View Full Version : Making a few pennies during the credit crunch
A few friends were talking about the credit crunch and how they were thinking about getting extrea funds into the house during this time so we thought it would be a great idea for a topic that everyone can join in  so if you have any links for free stuff or ways to make a few bob let us all know :D
ebay of course :D always a good start, but you have to have the right stuff at the right price and there has to be someone looking fo rit at that time
this link is for surveys you do on line, you either get paid or added to a draw once you have done them, when you reach £50 you are sent a cheque :) or you could win up to "£250. http://www.yougov.com (http://www.yougov.com/uk/panel/)
Fantastic idea Beth :D
My friend actually recommended the YouGov site to me a couple of days ago. She has been doing it a little while and has earnt £35 :o
This is for registering & filling out the occasional online survey :)
Anyone can do it and for a few minutes of your time the pennies soon build up :)
It's not a 'get rich quick' scheme, but it costs nothing so you have nothing to lose.
I am def joining up
Anyone else got any ideas? :)

I am a big fan of Freecycle. There are thousands of local groups where people offer stuff they no longer need for free! You can pick up great stuff and also offload your clutter. It's a great alternative to get rid of things which doesn't add to our landfill sites. In the group you can offer stuff, email to request an offered item and post a request for any item that you need.
Check it out!

This site works in partnership with some very big names.
It is well worth a look. There are people who get several hundred pounds cashback per year by doing their shopping with these companies via the link and I have checked it out thoroughly ;)
I have now joined, and it comes recommended from a reputable source ;)

dont forget to use up money off coupons, they get so easily overlooked but can save you a few quids here and there.
also if you have clearance outlets near you - go and have a poke around - there is a Boots one near me, I swallowed my snobbishness and went and had a look - the place was full of last years Xmas stock! and lots of discontinued toiletries for tiny amounts of money 50p, 75p. none of it was fantastic but it was all acceptable and for 50p or even £1 - I dont mind trying.
I also went into a clearance JD Sports - what a dump but I did think that if you were looking for some cheap trainers or for men's stuff it might be good. the womens sections was a total disaster zone tho:lol:
the trouble with vouchers is that I cut them out and then forget about them
some great ideas so far  we might all be millionairres this time next year :D :D

I normally manage to shred mine, get them all in a nice pile and take the whole lot into the kitchen and shred them
Lets all hope we win the lottery then :lol:
some one else reminded me of something today, when they see buy one get one free offers of 3 for the price of 2 offers on toiletries, kitchen products and other things that dont go out of date, they buy them as normally the week after they see the offers the items go back to their orginal prices and shower gels, deodarants etc can be quite expensive
they store them in a wicker basket in the spare room, and if they see nice things on offer like posh bubble baths and if they dont use them they make great christmas and birthday pressies :D
I'm trying very hard to reduce our outgoings and boost our income like many people at this difficult time
I have been putting off changing fuel providers as long as possible, but am now in the process of doing it and after checking out the Uswitch site it looks like we will be saving ourselves quite a bit each month.
The same goes for telephone providers :) I phoned our existing one 2 weeks ago and told them I was shopping around for a new provider, so what could they offer me to stay with them  It's amazing what they can pull out of a hat ;)

i've had £150 out of yougov. it takes a while to build it up but well worth the few minutes it takes to fill in a survey
Here's another good one ;)
http://uk.lightspeedpanel.com/index.html
You are awarded 'points' for each survey you complete and then these can be changed into cash or vouchers etc etc.
I only joined 2/3 weeks ago but I am invited to fill in a lot of surveys - sometimes 2 or 3 each day :)
It all adds up ;)
This is another site recommended to me :D
http://www.musicmagpie.co.uk/
It is genuine, and I am now going through all my old CD's and having a good de clutter :);)
They even send you the packaging so there is no P&P to pay :)
So far, the prices are better than you would get at a car boot sale.
Who'd have thought my Boney M CD would be worth £3?
 I tried it and every one I put it they didnt have on record  what does that say abouit my taste in music

 I did have a few like that myself, Beth, ;) but most were ok.
I would have thought my triple Queen album was on there but it wasn't
I have rustled up about £25 worth today though :D
hey thats good  might have to have a further rootle around my cd rack :D

Hi Everybody,,
McCain seem to be popping vouchers in the post for a free 4 pack of McCain micro chips and other vouchers of the same products included..:)
Something free lol^_^ they do cost £1.99 at some shops so a little bit of saving goes a long way..
The chips are OK but need sauce with them because they are so dry and my god you only get about 8 crinkle cut thick chips in each box but it is free so enjoy lol:lol:

gardeners.....go to starbucks coffee houses and you can ask for a free big bag of used coffee grounds to go on the garden  its full of nitrogen appartently and some plants love it!

well done you sp! i find it quite hilarious as well, the local authorities are doing their utmost to stop people using their cars, but the people have decided to sort things out for themselves! i love it!
