View Full Version : Mamma Mia!
Anyone else looking forward to seeing this? :D
I usually wait for the dvd to come out with most films, but sometimes a film comes out that you just can't wait to see and this is one of them
The cast is great - I love Julie Walters and she will be fantastic in it :D
The world premiere was in London last night and so far I have only heard really excellent reviews on it, so that's a good start!!
I was lucky enough to be given tickets for my birthday in 2006 to see the West End stage show. It wouldn't have been my first choice of show to see, and went in there not sure whether I was going to enjoy it tbh, but by the time we came out I was buzzing  We had seats in the second row which was great, but the atmosphere was amazing and everyone was up and dancing and singing along. I loved it and would recommend it to anyone - not just ABBA fans.
If the film is like the show it will be a real 'feel good' film with lots of singing and comedy moments and I can't wait to go and see it :D
Anyone else planning on seeing it?

i saw the clip this morning and it did look like fun. the west end show is still going great guns so i should imagine the film with be fab. the abba music alone is going to make that film a success.
i see tom hanks and wife are executive producers - they produced my big fat greek wedding which was also a big success:rolleyes:
Absolutely loved "My Big Fat Greek Wedding" have got it on DVD, so will wait for the DVD of Mumma Mia. Has anyone seen "Hairspray" that is another good one as well.
Saw Mamma Mia the other week. I've never been to the stage show so didn't know what to expect. i went from tears of laughter to sadness in about 20 seconds flat then back again. I can heartily recommend it :D
I'm really looking forward to seeing it too, its on at the moment at our "local" cinema so am trying to persuade Mr O to go with me ;)
I still haven't seen it yet - but might go tomorow or Monday - I can't wait :D
:D I went to see this tonight and it is absolutely fantastic :D:clap2::clap2::clap2::clap2::clap2:
The casting is brilliant - Meryl Streep in the lead role was perfect, and as for Julie Walters - fabulous :thumbs:
A certain Mr Pierce Brosnan wasn't too bad either :wow::wub:
It is a real 'feel good' film - very funny, but also had me shedding a tear or two when Donna [Meryl Streep] sang Slipping Through My Fingers on her 20 year old daughters wedding day :honk::crybaby:
My biggest problem was sitting still and not getting up and dancing in the aisles like they do in the show  and also I really wanted to sing a long but had to control my urges :rolleyes:
Omega, I really, really have a feeling you would just love this film too ;)
Hi
Well I actually got to see this film tonight ........... in luxury ;)
We met my step daughter and hubby for lunch today at Bluewater on our way back home from Kent, we spent about 3 hours having lunch and then they suggested we accompany them to the cinema there because Mamma Mia was still showing well of course I jumped :jump: at the chance
So we made our way to the cinema complex and to be honest we have never been there before, now we know why ....... they went in the Gallery section and each seat cost £17.50 per person :o Mr O & I were gobsmacked totally :( We normally pay £4.50 at the local cinema  They paid for lunch and then they paid for our seats too! Then said we could pay for the drinks to take into the cinema, well I thought a couple of boxes of popcorn and coke wouldn't cost that much  but to my amazement there is actually a BAR there, so we ended up paying for 3 bottles of wine, 1 Coke, 1 Water around £31.00!!! (I drove us home to Cambridgeshire afterwards - mine was the water ) Although I must add that we did get a tray each containing tortilla's, dip, box of celebration choc's and a muffin included the entrance price, the seat were leather arm chairs in pairs  I can now see why it cost sooooooo much - all this to watch ONE film!!!! So an evening out there could cost in the region of £100 sometimes more
Anyway after that shock, we settled down to watch the film and yes sp I did thoroughly enjoy it, it was fantastic and the music did make you wanna jump up and start dancing but we restrained ourselves, didn't want to show the kids up ;) and also it wasn't quite the thing to do there :hihi:
Meryl Streep had a lovely voice, Pierce, well voice not great but he made up for that when he took his wet shirt off
Cannot wait for the DVD to come out ;)
Anyone else been to the complex at Bluewater???
Sounds amazing,Omega :o
I have shopped at Bluewater but not done anything else there.
