Dennis and Sandra Hawes spent two months building a sun terrace on their kitchen roof. But their next-door neighbour, Charles Hart, was so angry that he had not been consulted about the terrace — which overlooks his garden in Lancashire — that he built a 16ft barrier between the two properties.
The breeze-block wall, known locally as the Great Wall of Fleetwood, and the story behind it, have become a tourist attraction, with taxi drivers drawing their passengers’ attention to it.
Council officials have ordered that part of the wall must be removed.
