Hot on the heels of the BBC report about racism among trainee PCs, here comes one about a major police force accused of fabricating evidence in high profile cases, including an allegation of misconduct in a murder case in which a serving police officer was one of the key suspects.

It's all starting to get very scary. But when you look at the society that police officers are recruited from it would be surprising if we didn't hear of things like this. Unless people start kicking up a fuss nothing will change. We get the police service we deserve.
