Hi
At long last I am thinking of getting broadband at home, yeap, still on the old "dial up" system.
Problem is I am getting a bit confused:unsure:, I was going to go with Sky Broadband, cause we would then get a discount for SKY HD Box, but then one of my colleagues said that they were no good and to take a look at the reviews on the web, and she was right.
So I am looking at O2, but I would be grateful if anyone knows of any "good" braadband providers out there. I don't reallydont down load much stuff so size of download thingys is not a problem. What I am supposed to be looking for in a broadband provider, this is a mine field and i am getting more and more confused by the day :wacko:any assistance would be gratefully received.

Cheers

We are with BT Broadband and I have to say they have pretty much ok for us. We have had broadband for four years now with them and in those four years I can honestly say we have only had maybe half a dozen times where i have had problems getting connected.

I wouldnt go with sky - everyone i know has had problems with them - a friend of ours moved last october and is still waiting for his broadband to work  We only have our calls through sky (deal at the time with sky plus box) and we are switching back to BT as soon as we can.

Blagger.com is a good website to look at before you decide - people list bad companies on there if they have had problems on there and broadband providers are often listed on there.

Hope you get sorted soon :D

We are will TalkTalk; Broadband, free landline calls paying for 08/07/09 phone calls only. At the moment it is working ok for us, although I had 3 months of problems to start with and eventually got quite a bit of compo for the distress and aggravation!!! We are paying in the region of £21 per month for all of it including any phone calls we have to pay,

Some people will say that they are no good, but to date all ok ........... expect something to go wrong now I have said that

Personally I think that everyone has had problems with their provider in some shape or form, but I would not recommend PIPEX no way  :nono:

Have you tried checking this website :

Hi Isis,

We got broadband about four years ago when my OH's employer insisted it was necessary for his job. They wanted us to go with Tiscali like everyone else but, as this was for our own home PC, we insisted on a company with a better reputation.

We finally settled on Freedom2Surf and the only problem we had was when they switched to LLU. The helpline was easy to get through and they sorted it immediately. They are not the cheapest but, if possible, I would recommend not basing your decision on price alone. Similarly a lot of people appear to have had problems going down the all-in-one package route - we keep everything separate (mind you, we don't even have Freeview!).

Oh yes and get a free backup dial-up service just in case! (and one that doesn't insist on regular use)

Just a quick question, can I connect broadand to my external modem or do i have to plug in to the internal modem? :lmao:
