NEIGHBOURS who suffered a year's worth of abuse and anti-social behaviour from a nightmare family have spoken of their ordeal.

It is believed that up to seven members of the McDonagh family, of Clive Road, Enfield, were evicted from their three-bedroom house late last month after police heard 30 complaints from distressed residents.

One such neighbour, 33-year-old Niki Tasou, said the trouble began shortly after the family moved in.

She said: "It was really disturbing. I'm five-and-a-half-months pregnant and this was my first family home with my fiancée.

"The family would play their music at three in the morning.

"Even when they were evicted and the house was cleaned cockroaches from that house found their way into mine."

The McDonaghs were finally evicted with the help of the Anti-Social Behaviour and Safer Neighbourhoods (SNT) team following a ruling at Enfield Magistrates Court.

Sergeant Stewart Gill of the Southbury ward SNT said: "This is joint work is proof that with the help of the public a great deal is done.

"I was grateful that so many residents attended the meeting to discuss their issues.
"In return the residents realise that they were not alone and that there are ways of dealing with these sorts of issues." Cllr Ertan Hurer, Cabinet Member for Community Safety and the Voluntary Sector, described the situation.

He said: "This family caused the most appalling problems for all the local residents with a catalogue of problems from constant noise, anti social behaviour, which included even fighting in the street, dumping rubbish and threatening neighbours. They made life miserable for anyone who had the misfortune to live near them.

"It was great to see how all the local residents banded together, attending the meeting, and how they helped gather the information."

And that's the only way forward.....we need to stick together

Whats the phrase ---putting the unity back into community??????
