Mousse/Milk Jelly:eat::eatin::chef:

This is something that I made when I was at school and it proved to be a big hit with the family and it is still loved today.

1 small tin of carnation Milk
1pk of Jelly

Optional: tin of fruit

Make up jelly as directed on the packet and leave to cool.

Whisk the milk until thick, smooth and creamy (hopefully you all have electric whisks otherwise you will be in agony and it will take ages.)

Pour in the jelly and whisk again for about 15 mins.

Tip fruit into your dish and pour the mixture over and leave to set in the fridge. Depending on which jelly you use it can be overnight, as I used to use the proper jelly, but I have also made this with sugar free and half fat carnation milk.

I you want to make a larger one just use a large tin of carnation milk and 2 pints of jelly and two tins of tinned fruit, I always used tin strawberries with strawberry jelly yumm

I cook up some fresh rhubarb, make up sugar free jelly, pour the jelly over the rhubarb, making sure that there is plenty of rhubarb, and leave to set, it is absolutely lovely, can't get enough of it in the summer, plus low sugar and no fat.

This is the last of our favourite receipes, so no more from me unless I find something outstanding. Hope you enjoyed them. :smoke::coffee::D

Aw thanks for you recipes Isis! :clap2: .

it's so funny that you have posted this one - Delia (;) ) has a lime and coconut jelly in her book which uses coconut milk instead of the condensed milk and I thought it sounded interesting (sadly, my lads think it sounds foul  ) .

Maybe yours would be a safer bet cos the milk you use is nice and sweet :D .

Hi er59
have you made the healty eating blackberry and rhubarb crumble yet, that was really nice, it was one of the first things that i made,
take 4 cooking apples do the usual, small amount of water and i use 4 tablespoons of sweetner, simmer them until cooked.

Pour into a dish, added washed blackberries and then make a crumble topping with wholemeal flour, it is on here somewhere.
We love it. take care. Will let you know if i find anymore, but the jelly is yum yum, my next door neighbour made it and gave me one in the summer, I normally try a new receipe out on her first, some of them she loves and some not, but for me it is a good indication of what is what.

Does it matter if it's evaporated or condensed? I hadn't even noticed til last week that there are two types!!

My Hubby used to make a cheese sauce with the evap milk, just put a small tin in a saucepan and add loads of cut up cheese, very nice but oh so sickly 8-Xand very very rich depending on the amount of cheese, and of course with him it was the maximum amount.;) everything with him is the maximum amount, when i make simnel cake i had to use two pkts of marzipain, otherwise he would moan, too much for me.

also have something available to wipe off your tiles as well :lol::lol::lol: but i did find if you get a huge deep bowl no splashes and also i don't have a food processor and my whisk is about 20 yeras old and the stand broke, but if i can prop it up i can walk away and leave it to wisk itself although it does make a bit of a noise, and my nice neighbour knows i am making it, and then wants some.:lol::rolleyes:
