My browser(s) have been hijacked I have the same banner coming up on different websites telling me I got spyware...some of the affected sites are
YouTube, Hotmail and this one!! :o

It is getting on my nerves, Symantec, Ad-Aware, SPYBOT S&D, Spyware Blaster have all been deployed and failed!! And various virus kept being detected by Symantec, so somewhere something is downloading this virus :mad:but thanks to Symantec it didn't go far ^_^

This is battle of the geeks!! I am not going to back down :lara:
Anyone having similar problem, or have had similar problems and solved it?

Yes, I've had something similar, I eventually reinstalled everything by upgrading from Windows ME to Windows XP.

Had similar problem. Start by booting in safe mode and running a full virus scan from there. Twice.

Then go to http://www.symantec.com/security_response/index.jsp and use their search to try to find the details and removal instructions for your virus.

Bonkers Mad!!!

Ses, the only time i couldnt solve something like this it turned out to be something ridiculously simple. i got rid of everything that could possibly have been the problem but i was still hijacked. turned out that even though i'd got rid of the source it was stillin my Spybot S&D back-up files. spybot automatically makes a backup of systems running XP so once i'd deleted those files everything was fine. in your case you'd probably have to clear out your ad aware back ups too. might be worth a try. if not, take a look at HIJACKTHIS (http://www.majorgeeks.com/download3155.html). somebody clued up like yourself should be able to decipher the log file and get rid of any registry entries linked to the virus and/or hijack files and it's how i discovered where the b*ggers were hiding.

good luck :clover:

Thanks for all the response!

My bad, I forgot to mention that I have used HiJack this as well (thanks BM), the safe mode and backup cleaning (this is a first I've heard but worth a try) are next steps to try this evening (I have been battling with it for the past few days, amongst other work that is going on) :(

Something is installing virus somewhere from the look of it and I have renamed some suspicious DLL and EXE files (one step short of deleting them from Registry) and the problem still persist!

Having said that, I believe it will be all the more rewarding when I finally get rid of it :geek:

Good luck ses, I hope you can get it sorted.

I am getting worried about this bloomin machine too cos even though I have up to date AVG and it says no viruses or anything, I keep having errors in Ntdll.dll and keep getting booted out. I wish I still had my trusty old win 98, no problems there :( .

It so frustrating, I hope you get to the bottom of it :( . :clover: .

:( sounds as tho you are having a bad time with your comp. I too have got problems but what it is I do not know :(

Mine seems to be something to do with my Word document, sometimes when I use it after typing out a whole page an error message appears I click on ok then it disappears  so have to start over again

When I shut down I get a warning message that cannot find a particular file, and says click "ok" to exit or "cancel" to "debug" - I hate computers when they take over.

I would personally like to know what sort of kick these so called hijackers get when they attack normal "home" computers what is their problem; know what I'd like to do to them tho ;)

Hope you get yours sorted Ses let us know how you get on :)
