View Full Version : What's your favourite Musical
Now we have this theatre sub forum and two shows have been recommended; I was wondering what is your favourite musical that you have seen live at a theatre, doesn't matter whether it's a Pantomime (oh yes it does, oh no it doesn't - sorry just getting in the spirit of Xmas :santabag::hihi:) or the West End or even your local theatre.
I have seen so many musicals over the past 10 years that I loved them all but I think my all time favourite was Cats I saw that three times, got my programme signed and I even have the Video  We sat on the revolving stage and the "cats" were in and out and under our seats during the show, it was fantastic and we were made to feel part of the show
So whats your favourite ..........

Ian :nfh1:
 That's a toughie ,Omega - I just really love them all
I would have to say it would be hard to choose between 4 - Grease, Buddy,Chicago & Mamma Mia. I really can't decide  I suppose if I was pushed it would probably be Mamma Mia, but they are all fantastic and so close
Mind you, I am seeing Cabaret next month so it could change again
I haven't seen Rocky Horror or Cats, though I would like to.
I love Panto too :D Haven't been for about 3 years but we used to take the kids every year, and they are great fun :D Hubby wants just the 2 of us to go this year as we really miss Panto :lol:
has to be blood brothers for me  got the sound track and love singing along with it :D
think I have seen it 3 times
i loved Les Mis.
Jesus Christ Superstar was spectacular and very, very moving to see. I ended up in tears :honk: but it really hit home.
The musical I've been to most though is Joseph. I saw the old 'old' show a few times, thebn the newer old now, show around 4 times, twice with Phillip Schoefield as Joseph which was fabulous. i've actually lost count over how often I've seen it.
I would love to see Blood Brothers though. The music seems fantastic and the story sounds very moving too.
I saw Jesus Christ Superstar many, many years ago  I liked it too. It was around the same time as Hair :rolleyes: Remember that? I remember we had an organised coach outing where I worked to go and watch Hair
I would love to see Joseph - it's on my list  but of course, the rather lovely Philip Schofield  would have been good to see in the role ;) I'm jealous,Rb
I saw Joseph with PS in it, ab fab darling!  and the man can sing
BB is incrediably moving and a real tear jerker, love it  if you do go and see it you must take hankies!!
I saw Joseph with PS in it, ab fab darling!  and the man can sing
:honk::honk: I am sooo jealous :(
I have PS on my ipod singing Close Every Door :D it is one of my top played tracks
Want to see the the new version of Joseph though . I actually quite like Lee Mead in the role from what I have seen and heard :)
:errrm: I didn't realise PS was in that :o Must have been fantastic cos he is a top man ;)
NS nice one ;) Yep! White lab coat vest and Y fronts.........:rolleyes:Do you mind if I give my am-dram group a mention as they are doing a show from 14-17 of this month in a big Maidstone theatre and its going to be their last at that theatre after 10 years of putting on musicals - the content of this show is songs from West End shows and it's called "Look to the Western Sky"
A mind-blowing, energy-packed journey through the heart of London, stopping off at theatreland’s most popular venues and visiting the best loved shows that have made their home in our very own West End.
Mamma Mia, Grease, Wicked, Miss Saigon, Les Miserables and a stunning, mind-blowing finale with songs from We Will Rock You, to name but a few.
Look To The Western Sky takes audiences on an adrenaline-fuelled trip that shows them why the West End really and its stunning shows are envied the world over!
So if you are in the area its worth going to see as they are amateurs, not paid actors/singers; we normally have a great evening. I can give a link to the website if anyone wants it ;)
That sounds really good, Omega :)
oh, and I'd forgotten about We Will Rock You .........must add that to my list then :lol:
oooh so many sp  Not seen We Will Rock You either; so it looks like I have quite a lot of catching up to do
Yep! White lab coat vest and Y fronts.........
Ian :nfh1:I did the whole stockings suspenders basque & high heels, my ankles were agony for days afterwards but it was worth it :D

Starlight Express.
Went to see it three times as a youngser and still think it's great.
My favortite musical, well in the list there has to be Rocky Horror Show, no I have never seen it live nor dressed up, but sing my heart out when i put it on the DVD and prance around the room like a some mad women (which I have been assured i am) I also like Grease same again singing the songs and prancing round the room, the King & I and Seven Brides for seven brothers know all the songs and Hubby either lretreats to the garage or groans very loundly with "Oh No, but you have sen that one on .... do you have to watch it again"
A strange mix I think.

Hi
Well this is a tough one, on the list must be Rocky Horror Show, then Grease, The King & I and 7 Brides for 7 Brothers, and not forgetting Bedknobs and Broomsticks which all of these send my hubby mad as I sing (and I seem to know all the songs by heart) and prance (dance!) around the lounge he either retreats to the garage or I get "oh no not that again you saw that on .... do you really have to see this again haven't we got that one on DVD why are you wathcing on telly, ********nal are playing against blah blah" because Hubby dear you wil not let me watch them on DVD.
Isis:whistle: (when ever I feel afraid I whistle a happy tune and no one will suspect I'm afraid) HAHA

I suppose it has to be Phantom simply because I'm an old romantic at heart.
I love musicals - have them all on tape from way way back. In fact the first one I ever saw a t the cinema at the age of 5 was The Wizard Of Oz closely followed by Annie Get Your Gun.
Now You've started me off on 'follow the yellow brick road'

Well we went to see my drama groups show last Friday and it was fantastic, it was songs from musicals, they dressed according to the musical and the choreography was superb, I know I'm prejudiced :p
This is the list of the shows & songs:
Rent - Rent, season of Love
Fiddler on the Roof - If I were a Rich Man
Chicago - Cell Block Tango
Starlight Express - I am the Starlight
Grease - Grease is the Word & We go together
My Fair Lady - Wouldn't it be Luverly
Blood Brothers - Bright New Day
Les Mis - Stars, Red & Black, Do you hear the People Sing
Phantom - All I ask of You
Wicked - For Good, One Short Day, Defying Gravity
West Side Story - America
Rocky Horror - Sweet Tansvestite
Whistle Down the Wind - Tire Tracks and Broken Hearts
Chess - Anthen, Nobody's Side
JCS - Gethsemane, JCS
Sunset Boulevard - Sunset Boulevard
Miss Saigon - Bui Doi, American Dream
They finished the show with We Will Rock You with a live rock band, singing Under Presssure, We will Rock You and We are the Champions. Because it was their last big show the full company finished with Bohemian Rhapsody.
We took my mother-in-law and her face when Cell Block Tango was performed and also the Sweet Transvestite was a picture :D She was not expecting any of that and all I kept hearing was a shocked "ooh" from her then a titter :hihi:
It was fantastic to see all my old friends again and a lot of ex members, a good night was had by all.
:D So after reading the list of songs which one is going round in your head now :p
 Sounds great, Omega :D
The song going round my head now though, just HAS to be Cell Block Tango  I love that song - got it on my ipod, but it's not quite the same without the ermm, visual effects :lol:
