Last week we went to see Wicked :)

It actually wouldn't have been my first choice of show, but my son bought me the tickets for my birthday. He chose that one as he and his girlfriend had seen it in July and loved it :D

I was very impressed with it though. I was worried I might be sitting in the theatre for 3 hours not enjoying it, but it was excellent.

It is the story of Elphaba the green witch from The Wizard of Oz and Glinda the good witch. It tels the story of what happened in Oz [I]before Dorothy dropped in on them

It showed why Elpheba was green, who her parents were, and most importantly, why she became the Wicked witch, as she had not always been that way :crybaby:

Nigel Planer plays the Wizard and Susie Blake [formerly of Coronation Street] plays Madame Morrible. Both Elphaba and Glinda were played by the understudies the night we saw it, but they were both absolutely superb, and from the applause they got at the end, everyone else agreed :)

I would recommend it if you want to see a good London show, and are a fan of the Wizard of Oz especially ;)

Anyone else seen this?

That's the show I wanted to go and see but we couldn't get tickets that day, we actually bought ours from the ticket shop in Leicester Square so were limited to what was available, but never mind there is still time

Funny my step son and his girlfriend went to see Wicked and recommended it to us! For someone who won't watch musicals on TV he has been to see, Mary Poppins, Wicked and others and loves the Mr Men :hihi: bless him he's 21!!!

Thanks for the write up sp, and this sub-forum is fantastic  lets hope everyone will write their own experiences, likes and dislikes on West End shows and also other shows :)

:D This sub forum was an excellent idea, Omega ;)

Funny, my 20 something son isn't really into musicals either, but his girlfriend loves them, so they went, and he has been converted :D

Oh, and my son loves the Mr Men too - he is wearing his Mr Bump T shirt today :rolleyes:^_^

I love musical theatre :D

We are going to see Cabaret after Christmas and I can't wait. It's been one of my favourite films since it came out in the 70's.

I just can't understand my mother letting me watch it when I was such a small child :whistle::hihi:

It will be very interesting to hear other members reviews and experiences on other shows :)

I love musicals too and a few years back when shows like, Cats, Miss Saigon, Les Mis, Buddy etc were all on my friend and I went to see all of them :) You cannot beat a good musical

About 10 years ago I joined a drama group who put big musicals on in Kent Theatre and I was their prompt, it was fantastic they were all amateurs but always had good write ups! I just love the excitement of the theatre B)

:errrm: I think I'll start a new topic ;)

:D I saw Buddy a few years ago - loved it :D and Grease - not this time around but when it was on a few years back.

Last year my other son bought me tickets for my birthday too to see Mama Mia - absolutely fantastic, and everyone got up and joined in :D:lol: Brilliant!

The year before - on my birthday  - we went to see Chicago and we loved that too. I would recommend all of those shows :)

Saw My Fair lady 3 years ago - it was good, but not my favourite or as good as the ones I mentioned above.

You can also get some really good deals if you book late or look around. For Cabaret we have got the best tickets but £25 each cheaper than they should be :o:eek: A saving of £50 for really good seats for a top London show is amazing. It's one of our Christmas pressies this year ^_^
