Hi

Link: http://montypythonsspamalot.com/index.php

Watch the videos to get some idea of the wacky show

Have put this thread in here as the cinema is the nearest to a theatre  and there isn't a theatre sub-forum unless I am missing it somehow  Matthew perhaps we could have one? Just a thought ;)

Anyway we went to see Spamalot last week at the Palace Theatre in London, absolutely fantastically funny; awesome. If you like Monty Python you'll love this; its based on The Holy Grail.

We started off by getting tickets from the "Ticket Booth" in Leicester Square for the evening performance and these were half price - we paid £60.00 for 2 seats in the stalls row N. The Palace Theatre is old and the seating is very compact :( We stat down to enjoy the show and the whole row behind us had rowdies in it, laughing so loud at nothing sometimes we think they were a little tipsy. Anyway we could not hear the dialogue in the first half and their rowdiness spoilt it for us. At the interval I went to speak to an usher to ask if it was fully booked and the answer was yes no other seats available :( I explained that we had paid good money for our seats and we didn't know what to do as we could return to them, anyway he got the manager who was superb, he spoke to a colleague and we ended up, just me and hubby, sitting in one of their "boxes" overlooking the stage :wow: we could see everything and were so close to the actors  So a good night was had by us

Peter Davison was King Arthur and Sir Lancelot (or Prancealot) was Ex Corrie man Charlie Stubbs :o He was absolutely fantastic, I didn't realise he could sing, dance make a fool of himself and be a comedian - superb.

So if anyone remembers and likes Monty Python and you are visiting London and want to see a good show try it

:o What a coincidence, Omega  We have just got back from a night out at the theatre tonight

I haven't seen Spamalot, but my daughter has and enjoyed it a lot, even though she wouldn't remember Monty Python

You got a really good deal there with changing seats :o:eek:
There is nothing worse than having rowdy people sitting near you  and theatre seats are flipping expensive.

Anyway, our tickets for tonight were a birthday present to me from one of my sons, and they were to see Wicked at the Apollo Theatre right next to Victoria station. He went with his girlfriend and really enjoyed it so bought tickets for me. It was very enjoyable :D

Glad you managed to enjoy it in the end, Omega - and a theatre sub-forum sounds a good idea to me too :D;)

We want to go and see Cabaret next :)

I'd love to see spamalot. I know the film backwards since I go to see it at Monty Oythin Day in Doune Castle (where they filmed it) every year. Its a very silly day ;)

I saw a few bits from the show on TV with Tim Curry as Arthur and it looked fantastic, I could imagine Peter Davidson being quite good.

Now to convince hubby to take me to London to see it^_^ Unless of course, there is a touring version coming up soon;)

I'd love to see it too, they have a few clips on the official website that are just brilliant, especially "the song that goes like this" genius!

 Glad I'm not the only one who loves getting the soundtracks. I listen to them till I know all the words backwards  I put them on my ipod and the cd is ideal for the car

I love this new Treading the Boards sub forum. Thanks Matthew
