Although I shouldn't :rolleyes: I am just about to tuck into my favourite cake - a yumscious scrumcious egg custard tart, brought to me by a friend along the corridor :D

What is your favourite cake?

A nice big chocolate eclair or a slice of madiera cake with rasberry and icing on top. And I could go on.....

Chocolate cake, especially my own home made one, if thats not sounding big headed.
Made with two whole Terrys chocolate oranges and half a pint of cream.
Excuse me while a get another chair for the other half of my bum.:eek:

Has to be Christmas Cake with a big lump of icing and marzipan, can't beat it (and a bit of cheese on the side!). :D

I love my homemade choclate fudge cake it's so rich that you have to eat it with a fork.

I also adore fresh cream cakes - ooh, but nice!

Took longer than five minutes but I hope you enjoy it.


Chocolate Orange Cake

5oz self raising flour
1 tsp baking powder
5 tbsp cocoa powder
6 oz soft marg
6 oz caster sugar
Juice and rind of large orange
3 eggs
Tiny pinch salt optional

ICING
2 Terrys chocolate Oranges
Half pint double cream
3 to 4 oz icing sugar

Preheat oven 180C/350F/gas 4
Two 8in sandwich tins greased and lined with greaseproof paper.

Sift dry ingredients into bowl add one tablespoon orange juice/rind/marg/sugar and eggs. Beat with electric whisk until pale and fluffy.
Divide between tins bung in oven for 20/25 mins or thereabouts.

Cool cakes. Stick skewer into cakes and spoon remaining orange juice over, leave to soak
Place cream and chocolate into pan and bring to boil, DO NOT STIR as soon as cream comes to boil switch off heat and leave for about ten minutes, stir until smooth, beat in icing sugar until it’s the consistency that you want.

Sandwich sponges together and swirl remainder around the sides and top.

Enjoy with ambulance on speed dial.
