Just read this in an article on MSN:
"Living next to noisy neighbours could drive you to an early grave. Noise pollution which severely disrupts sleep can lead to high pressure and this could account for three per cent of deaths from strokes and heart attacks, according to a new study.
Prof Deepak Prasher, professor of audiology at University College, London and co-author of a report for the World Health Organisation says: "Until now noise has been the Cinderella form of pollution and people haven't been aware it has an impact on their health."
He recommends living in areas with noise levels below 75 decibels - tricky in Britain where one in 50 people admit moving house because of noisy neighbours, and many live by busy roads. "
Can't believe it's as few as 1 in 50! Bet it's a lot more than that!

Well givne that they have never asked me, I bet it's a lot more than that. Well, if they want to buy us all a nice little cottage in the middle of the country that's fine with me. I wonder how many decibels a cow omits. I hear them every night along with sheep, and a rather excitable horse, and it never evens causes me to flinch.
Not what I would have said before.....;)

Never asked me neither and I would have given them plenty of food for thought.
Just makes you wonder how they ever get to the statistics when so many are missing from them:rolleyes:
We could all have told him that
Interesting though, and I do believe it can shorten lives in some cases, the sheer stress of it all :(

ahhh no sound .... just peace and quiet. I returned to the streets where I played as a child last week, and the noise of the fast cars accelerating + car sound systems were getting me uptight. I felt pretty lucky to be able to get out of there as quickly as possible and return to my quiet street. :)

I agree with the above, it's what has caused the high blood pressure in both of my parents, leading to subsequent heat attack in Dad, fortunately he's recovered well after quad by pass. Plus his brain seems to have forgotten how bad it was, sure nature takes a hand. He was so stressed.
Trouble is we're now on our 4th year of NsFH - will put my story on when I get a mo, but it's a long one and I'm hoping it isn't going to affect our health, but must admit both DH & I have a lot more grey hairs. It was good to sleep in our own beds last night, gave the tent a miss for once;):eek:

One of the things that makes me angry is that authorities that could and should help, and do not, completely ignore the fact that peoples health is at risk from NfH, which in turn means people who would not usually be taking up doctors appointments are, because of other peoples atrocious behaviour. So NfH cause clogging up of NHS and clogging up of Council/police etc because they do as they please!
I think I'd better stop now or this comment will need to be moved to Ranters section ;)

But if everything is quiet and no one has noisy parties what will I do? :hihi: (Heads off to put the kettle on, put his feet up and dream of a land where he is not needed!)
