It's back!! :xfactor::thumbs: X Factor 2007 starts this Saturday, 18th August 7.40pm on ITV 1

A few changes this year as mentioned in What's On TV? mag. -

'Return of the talent series in which hopefuls try to impress Simon Cowell, Sharon Osbourne, Louis Walsh and new judge Danii Minogue. New host Dermot O'Leary is joined by choreographer to the stars Brian Friedman who will help the finalists put together their performances for the live shows. The age to enter has also been lowered to 14 so there are now four categories - Boys [14-24] Girls [14 - 24], 25's and over, and Groups - all aiming to win a £1 million recording contract'

Well, that's my Saturday nights sorted out till December then :rolleyes::xfactor:

Thanks SP, I didn't know this - I mucho enjoy the X Factor! :)

Looking forward to watching Dermot O'Leary too, who's an excellent presenter (currently doing his last ever BB at the mo :bb: ).

I've created a new X Factor 2007 area like we had last year. :xfactor:

Hi

I too am looking forward to the X Factor again, :( but unfortunately I shall miss the first one this Saturday as I am going on a booze cruise to France ;)

So will look forward to the 2nd one even more  Pleased they have more categories this year will make it even more interesting me thinks

Ok, tell me I'm not the only one sitting here blubbing :rolleyes::honk:

Did anyone else see the 33 year old widow with the 2 little children singing Nessun Dorma? Her husband had always wanted her to audition for X Factor. He died 9 months ago and so she is doing it for him. She was terrific, and gave a very emotional audition. She is through to the next round as all 4 judges said 'yes'.

Watch out for her - I think she'll be in the top 5 ;)

did you also see the elderly couple who met for the first time at the auditions and went off hand in hand ah bless so sweet

No you weren't the only one sp; I too found it very emotional and I think even Simon had a tear in his eye ;) I read this about her today in our newspaper

http://www.sundaymirror.co.uk/news/sunday/2007/09/16/my-husband-mark-died-training-for-great-north-run-last-year-i-want-to-win-x-factor-for-him-98487-19797264/

It is quite an achievement for her

The older lady and gent were a pleasure to watch and see, he was slightly better than the lady; and when they walked off hand in hand it was so lovely - love is in the air  watch this space eh :)

I was really annoyed watching tonight's X Factor. They featured a young girl singer, who cam e with her family and I feel that ITV ridiculed them. Before we even saw the audition, we watched thefamily arrive - nothing wrong with that but ITV played the theme to the old TV show "The Flumps", taking, I feel, the mickey out of the family's weight. They WERE rather cuddly, but playing that theme tune was, I thought, really cruel and that poor young girl has to go to school with everyone having seen that.

I am seriously considering making a formal complaint. <!--IBF.ATTACHMENT_312948-->

It was sad, but I would hope the family had given their permission to be shown?????
Don't know for sure of course, but I would hope so

Other than that, the auditions have now finished, and boot camp starts next week :D

Just seen the first half of tonight's double bill Boot Camp, very entertaining and amusing! :xfactor:

Interesting twist too in getting some of the rejected singers back to form two groups!

It was good tonight, but I thought Louis was well out of order telling the over 25's that he didnt really want that group. Talk about making them feel rejected before they begin.:(

It's the first of the live shows tonight at 5.45. on ITV 1

The results are then on at 10pm [after the rugby cup final! ;)]

Should be interesting to see who everyone thinks will make the last 3 :)

21-10-07, 02:23 PM
Is it just me or is the quality just not as good this year?

Apart from Niki, who is fantastic, most of the rest are not very good, with only a couple of exceptions. I thought Kimberley was the right choice to leave tonight thought.

I bet Sharon is still there next week too

I have to say...this series has not caught my attention one little bit. I ahve no idea of any of the finalists apart from 'Rhydian' who seems to be verywhere in the newspapers lately - but I still haven't heard him sing.

I think Sharon needs to get a grip - both the last two yesterday were rotten lousy, they deserved to be there from what I heard of them.

Eeyore
21-10-07, 03:08 PM
I barely watched it as I prefer to watch the dances on Strictly, and this year the performances on X-Factor are not so good

Sharon needs to stop chucking her toys out of the pram. It's been in all the papers how she has spent very little time with her group, if that is true, what does she expect?

sp54
21-10-07, 03:24 PM
Sharon was very odd last night with her comments too, I thought

I love Strictly too so I Sky+ it and am watching it now :D

I've just made myself watch the repeat. I still kept getting up and wandering away from it. Absolutely none of them are of interest to me...I don't even think I'll bother with it again.

As for that Brother and Sister combo :o what is that about?? They are freaky, weirdness  . Has Simon lost the plot or wot? .

I don't think much of Dermot as presenter either. I much preferred Kate Thornton

If you watch the news tonight you will be appalled at this :(

Emily, the 15 year old who Sharon is mentoring, has been captured on film in a so called 'happy slapping' incident where she is clearly seen attacking another girl and holding her down by her hair :mad::mad:

Emily has now 'pulled out' of the show

I'm glad thatthe truth has been revealed and this horrible little madam's true colours are evident for all to see. I hope that other young people see how disgusted most people are by this and reconsider their behaviour. I wonder if she'll face police charges?

sp54
02-11-07, 07:25 PM
I only saw a brief clip of it trailing what is on the 6.30 news on ITV. If you get a chance - try to watch it, I was sickened

This is the first year of having the younger contestants [from 14] and I think it should be the last. At that age they do not have the maturity to deal with the effects of a show like X Factor to start with :(
I hope she does face charges, DG

sp54
11-11-07, 12:45 PM
 I am still watching [and Sky+ ing Strictly Come Dancing] but tbh it isn't as good this year by a long way.

The talent just isn't there, although Niki and Rhydian can belt out a song alright, it's just not 'doing it' for me this year :(.

Maybe it is also the change of presenter, an additional judge etc etc????

I agree its not what it used to be; Sharon needs booting off it's all about her most of the time, and Louis well tbh I cannot stand the man

However, I would say that Rhydian last night bought a tear to my eye, mainly cos I love the song he sang and also he sang it beautifully :honk:

I'm a Strictly girl myself as I have a crush on one of the celebs....but we do watch X Factor on Sundays just to keep up. I agree that no one really stands out like Leona and Shane did. Our daughters like Hope, although we should be cheering on Same Difference as they are sort of local to us.

Anyone else find Rhydian a bit scary?? He CAN sing though...

Bit of a shock; don't know how he won tho cos IMO his voice seems only suitable for swing not pop ...... again so much like Ray Quinn last year! Perhaps all the little teenie boppers were allowed to stay up late and vote

I believe that someone has already mapped out Rhyddian's career ;) I think he is fantastic when he sings You Raise Me Up :crybaby: Hope he releases it as a single sometime

Me too - seems a lot of callers trying to register a vote for Rhydian couldn't get through and got an engaged tone. Makes you wonder doesn't it!

Sparrow
16-12-07, 01:38 PM
Even though Leon won Im sure Ryidian will get a recording contract out of it. But you would think after all the carry on with phone problems in the past ITV would have made doubly sure everything went smoothly

mazza
16-12-07, 02:41 PM
Gosh really, is there a bit of a stink about the voting? Does it never stop??

I was really shocked when Leon's name was called, but after I got over the shock, I think surely this is exactly the type of winner X factor needs, ie someone totally from obscurity, no formal training, no previous work in the industry - just an ''ordinary'' person, who previouisly worked in a High St clothes chain.

So although he didn't really have the strongest voice and isn't my cup of tea, I do feel glad he won now.

I read yesterday that Leona had formal stage school training...this really bugs me as I thought she was just a bored receptionist in a factory...Likewise Rhydian has perviously been signed to a record company, I don't think that's right to let him enter. Same goes for Ray last year as he already worked in the industry (actor and stuff).

Hopefully Leon is the real deal, good luck to him :D .

tonica
16-12-07, 04:53 PM
i was soo suprised Leon won , i thought throughout the series Rhydian was leagues ahead !!
Im sure he will still get a career out of it though :)
