If there was ever any reason to doubt why we are losing faith in our police force (especially concerning neighbours from hell), we can blame it on government targets for silly arrests.
The link is just mind boggling.

well why not ;) Chris Tarrent just got arrested for throwing a napkin covered spoon!
also you have to remember that a lot of the time they are being told what to do from above, so really the buck stops with the goverment
and yes, we all know there are some very nice and professional police personal out there, the same as all professions, there are good and not so good ones
and I am sure that there as some members of this forum who are in that profession :)

I totally agree Beth. It's very disappointing that the government should set should ridiculous targets when a lot of police I'm sure just want to get on with doing proper police work and investigate serious crimes and get the respect they deserve.
It's a hard job to do these days with such a lack of fear of authority in this country.

I have been let down by the police a number of times. I would certainly never call them for a robbery and expect anything to happen before a week is past, and when the KFH from next door was drunk with her friends and they were stomping all over my garden and insulting me, they couldn't be bothered to turn up for a good while, despite me being stressed and pregnant.
But, whilst there are a lot of folks who have had very bad and negavtive experiences with the police and the way they have dealt with things (such as your good self), there are also those who the police and community support have been a real life line.
I think it's a difficult situation to be in. The police have powers to do things, but don't always exercise them due to the demand to have ever increasing piles of paperwork, they can't often do things, and somestimes won't.
You get those who believe good old fashioned policing is the way to go, and being there with the people.
I am sorry in your case it wasn't a good experience. I've had a few myself and I lost trust in them, but I would give them a second chance too.
I hope that despite your bad experience you would not let it stop you from using the police again should you need them. There are some good ones out there I'm sure.

Well, I don't mean to sound harsh (to the police), but I hope for your sake, mine and the others here that are not having to currently deal with police because of NFH issues, that we never need to have to call them.
