It's that time of the year again when the renewals are coming up.
I'm currently with Direct Line, but wondering what's the best all round one. It's not just the quote, its the customer service and the extras. Does anyone have any recommendations as to the level of service etc ?

Hi Planet :)
We use Natwest for our home and car insurance. I got 10% off my car insurance when i switched last year as we already had home insurance with them. I have always found them to be really good - its the first company I have used that have actually taken the direct debit on the day I asked them to not when they felt like it  They send the paperwork when they say they are going to and when you phone you speak to a person (who understands what you are on about!!) not a machine!!
We have breakdown cover with the car insurance and I had to phone them last year as i had gone out and come back to where I had parked my car and the starter motor had jammed so the car wouldnt start - I rang them and they were there in 15 mins. Years ago I can remember waiting hours for breakdown people to come out!
We have just taken out insurance with Natwest as well that covers our new mobiles - its cheaper than the phone company too! I would def recommend them! And their quotes were among the cheapest which is always a bonus!!

As per usual it's my job to sort it all  Direct Line are for the car, Norwich Union were for the motorbike, but never again after the farce of the stolen bike and being told not to report it!
As for breakdown it's CSMA and Britannia The Home Insurance I was with Barclays, but loathe to go with them again as of course my premium will be sky high - thanks to the asb brigade even though I only claimed 3 times!!!
For public liability insurance and equipment I use my union BECTU. I know its worth shopping around and that's why I asked. It's not the cost thats important its the level of service that counts.
You can tell I am drowning in a sea of paperwork can't you?

I use Eagle Star (managed by Zurich) for my car insurance and they have always been pretty good, and I love Green Flag, which is why I use them as they give you home start cover as well.
Can't speak for house insurance though, as we have specialist insurance especially for boats, so no good to you!
I will be shopping round though as well in August as we have full no claims now (having lost them to the non insured moron who crashed into us), so I am hoping for a nice low insurance quote this year!

We have 6 years no claims on the car, we had a moron shunt us  but took him to court as he wasn't insured and the lady we went into had severe whiplash, she sued him too for her chiropractic bills. It took ages to sort out and the shunt was so severe it cracked the chassis of the car (a new car just weeks old).
The lowest quote I got for the car so far was £205 and that was Esure and that includes a courtesy car, which isnt bad.

Mine was about £238 with protected no claims, full comp with car, but as I don't need it till August it is bound to change. They still haven't caught the guy that hit us. Apparently the Motor Insurer's Bureau who dealt with my case looks for them for up to 10 years, but I doubt they will ever find him.

Just got it through the MOT today and had a full service all for £207 which isnt bad.
People laughed at me when I bought a Skoda, but touch wood, its been a good car, and built like the proverbial brick whatsit :)
