I watched this last night as a preview, due to be released on 27/04/07.
Shane Meadows directed this film loosely based on his own upbringing in Staffordshire, but for some unknown reason it was filmed in Grimsby.

A story about a young boy from a troubled background growing up in the north of england and based in 1983. He meets up with a load of skinheads on his way home from school and they become his friends and treat him like part of their family.

Great soundtrack by The Clash et al and one of the best 'sleeper' films this year.

Tragically realistic in its content, it will bring back memories of Doc Marten's and Ben Sherman's, but it's not the depressing film you expect it to be.
There is a South Bank documentary on Shane Meadows later this month.

If you want to see a movie that marks out a point in time where the country started to go wrong, watch this film, it's a potted history of British life in the making........ This is England......
