I have to say that I am a huge fan of Friends Reunited! It was such a blast from the past to see the names of people I used to know and see what they are up to now! I've even found my first ever boyfriend, but haven't plucked up the courage to email him!
I showed it to my dad and he's now in touch with several old mates who are all now retired.
It's such a simple idea for a website - but what a fab one! I beleive the owners are very rich now!
PS Has anyone been naughty and looked up their NFH???
:D I love this site too
About 2 years ago 8 of us met up again, having found each other through FR - we had left school in the 70's and it was an absolutely amazing day, and such fun catching up on 30 lost years :)
About 3 of our former group died young :( - 2 in their 20's and one late 30's which was awful, and a 4th was murdered by her husband :( :o which was dreadful news
We had a great time regardless though - one organised a reunion tour of our old school and it was quite emotional really as we all giggled and relived some of the stories about old friends and teachers. Then we went to the pub and had a long leisurely lunch before going our separate ways again.
Before I went home I went to HMV and bought a CD of the music of the year we left school   and played it over and over. It was a fantastic day :D
I had only seen 1 of the 8 in those 30 years, but we still all recognised each other which was amazing  The 'girl' who organised the day would not tell the rest of us who else was going, which made it totally nerve wracking, but fun, and there was much screaching and laughing when we all met for the first time at our old school.
My female NFH went to the same school as me, but 'he' moved to this country from elsewhere and has so many different identities he would be hard to trace anyway
Great thread, DG :D I think I will go and look for that CD again now.......

I know what you mean about listening to the music of your youth! It makes you feel all young again!! You've just reminded me of how I pestered my mum to buy me a "Relax" T shirt - she wouldn't because it was rude!!!! It seems so tame now!!

I did a few years ago and actually got in touch with a boy who used to be in my secondary school class who I hated one time for nicking my impressive collection of badges off my coat. We joked about it when we got back in touch, but at the time I was fuming. Will always remember him for that.
Nice to catch up with some old friends in my class, although I ones I was really close to I still see now.
Nice to see what they all got up to though. did any of them surprise you at all?
Most of my old school buddies ended up doing pretty much what I thought.
In a way they all surprised me
The one who was a bit drippy and dull at school turned out to be a 3 times divorced business woman who was doing a degree when we met :notworthy: , and the one who was very prim and proper and a bit boring at school was an absolute babe and a real hoot too
Actually, I was probably a big surprise to them too  :P

They do say that first love never dies!!! I just think that Mr DG wouldn't be too amused if I contacted Matt. Hmmmmm...I wonder if he still has that lovley blonde hair!!!!
Besides, I haven't retained my schoolgirl figure and Matt might be hugley disappointed! I think I'll let him remember me the way I was!!!

Hi Everyone,
I joined friends reunite a year ago i started with just putting my old schools down and did not pay the fee of £7.50p for six months membership.
Anyway i got emails stating that people wanted to get in touch with me so i paid the membership fee (you have to pay to receive emails from oldie mates but site free to join), got in touch with two of my old schools friends great.
But the only problem i have with this site is there are a lot of people that join because it is free but do not want to pay the membership fee which is a pity really as quiet a lot of my old mates names are on there but i cannot get in touch with them until they pay.
But apart from that the sites good ;)

I havn't joined but do have a nosey at what my old schoolfriends are doing, remembering some of them, they are either telling porkies or they were hiding their light under a bushel, LOL!Mind you someones put a photo of our old class on it and i'm in the front row, memories came flooding back! Now Genesreunited, i've joined that and have found loads of rellies! I'll go before you all start throwing things

For anyone who doesn't know  GR is a sister site to FriendsReunited and if you are thinking of tracing your family tree this is a great place to start :)
I love FR , but I love GR even more, just like CN then  :D
Both great sites, and well worth a visit :D

I use GR much more then FR.
I have peeped at my old school friends on FR and found one girl who lives in the next street to me on there. She says on the site that she is a successful business woman with no children, living in London! She lives in a 3 bed HT house with her boyfriend and has 4 kids! She works as a Betterware agent.
So don't know if they are telling porkies or not! ;)

I was just on that site last week and saw an old boy friends name. For the past week I've been composing an email to him but haven't had the courage to send it :D Probably just keep rewording it for a few years before deleting it :hihi:

LOL! I went to a comp and mine must have had more than it's fair share of success stories,or not ;) They do make you laugh, especially when you spot an old school pal pushing a nettos trolly round our town centre when they are meant to be in LA/ Australia, :hihi:

I was thinking about this last night (don't have computer access so had to wait til now to ask my question).
A few years ago I paid a fiver to join FR to send emails to get in touch with people and about two years ago an old friend paid to join and sent me an email, but I didn't have to pay anything to receive her email. Have FR changed it now so that everyone has to pay to send and receive emails?

Still need to look at site yet, when I have time.

Love to source out people there too.

Hiya Geg, only if they have joined too or posted their details. It has been brilliant, have found so many cousins, well worth the joining fee. CN
Think FR is only free to post your own name on but to send and recieve info you have to pay a yearly fee.
