View Full Version : What music did you have at your wedding
What is your song - a great topic DG
This got me thinking about what music did you have played at your wedding, or what music do you plan to have if you are getting married ;)
When Mr O and I married 6 years ago, my now stepson made us a cd of our favourite music which was played :)
The order was:
"Peaceful Pachelbel" Canon was played while the guests assembled; then I walked in with a louder version the same music.
We then signed the register & had photo's taken with the following playing the bacground
Have I told you lately by Rod Stewart; True Love Ways; Unchained Melody; Always and Forever; Everything I do.
When we walked out man as wife we had the James Bond Theme playing because the groom, best man and my son who gave me away were dressed in White Tuxedo's and Bow Ties
All these songs hold a special place in my heart

As I enter we are having Dantes Theme from Hannibal. It s the song they play at the opera in the film.
As we leave we are having The more I see you
As we enter the reception we are having a medley of Time of my life, You're still the one and Happy Together.
I expect James Bond will turn up in our wedding songs too O. :D

I married in a church within a castle, so we went for traditional tunes.
I entered to The Bridal March, aka Here comes the Bride
We sang The King of Love my Shepherd Is, and At the name of Jesus Every Name Shall Bow
Mr DG and I exited the church to The Wedding March.
In the evening we had a disco which played loads of different tunes from the 60's up to cureent ones (in 1992).
Mr DG now wishes we had sung Jerusalem as that's his fav hymn (actually, it's the only one he knows!)
Here's an annecdote from my church's organist!: Back in the 90's a young coupple wanted the Bride to enter to the organ playing Everything I do, by Bryan Adams. However, they refered to it as the Robin Hood theme tune.
What they ended up with was....
"Robin Hood, Robin Hood, riding throught the glen..."!!!!!!!!!
They weren't best pleased!!!

It was touch and go as to whether I was going to get married on that day because on the morning of my wedding I changed my mind and then back again(thank goodness). It was very quiet just me,Husban and 3 witnesses. one witness brought along his partner so she signed aswell.[/b]
Are you now glad that you went through with it???
We've been married hundreds of years, but I remember we had 'Love Devine All Loves Excelling' and the traditional Wedding March. Those were the days - I was actually underweight on my wedding day
We had a disco in the evening, but errrmm, we didn't stay as long as I'd have liked as mr sp was in a hurry to leave for some reason     so I am not sure what music was played TBH
If I had my time again, my perfect wedding location would be in a castle :)

SP we were married at Leeds Castle in Kent; we went for the smaller ocassion as it was our 2nd wedding; and hired the gatehouse. It was a fantastic day, it had snowed but the day was blue sky and sunshine. I would agree it is a perfect location for a wedding  It was the best day of my life
Crazy Dog

We chose Crazy Dog (John Barry) for us both to walk in to at a civil ceremony that - in the end - never happened.
That's why I use the name.

I shall just have to either -
a] Get divorced and remarry
b] Pin my hopes on mini sp marrying in a castle
I'm not sure yet if we are able to have music better check  but if we are we will have INXS 'by my side' as I walk in. It was the first cd Mr T ever gave me. mmmmm or did I nick it out of his cd player :hihi:

Marry him again SP54 on your anniversary :)
Mr. P and I go renew every year - he says its like paying insurance!!!
We never tell anyone - just go and have our marriage vows blessed.
we have picked some beautiful places over the years, one year we picked the Callanish Standing Stones.... we are very eccentric.
Oh, you are romantic, P :) I think that's lovely
I am not sure if it's for me though, I just know I'd get the giggles if I had to be serious

That sounds really lovely planet  We have been married ten years this year - the only one of our group of friends to get there the rest are divorced or married to someone else!! Mr sparrow is really keen for us to have our vows renewed - im not so sure. I dont like being the centre of attention - much sooner be lurking in the background!! He has booked the week off that our anniversary (and birthdays!!) is in so I know hes up to something! He doesnt know I know - I checked his emails for him ( I was asked to!!) as he is away and worked had confirmed it for him!! Our holiday isnt booked for that week so he is up to something!!
I cant remember what music we had at the actual service  - it was in a register office. But I always remember we danced to Wet Wet Wets Love is all around for our first dance. I feel all romantic and mushy now - Im sure the feeling will pass very quickly

I married in a registry office, so no music there.
For the reception we had two guys jamming on acoustic guitars for a good portion of the evening so people would mingle and chat!
Mr S then put together a CD to play for the latter part which included tracks from Van Gelis (love him), Lilly the Pink, Over the rainbow, music from kill bill, basement jaxx, and other weird concoctions of tracks which got people up on their feet and wondering what the heck was going on.
It was great just listening to guitar music playing in the background, as we saw how many people could hear it but it didn't stop them mingling and as mine ad Mr S's families had never met before it was a good ice breaker.

It's the opening Music to 2001: A Space Oddysey Also Spoke Zarathustra by Richard Strauss it's based on a book by Nietzsche about the evolution of man into superman! Sadly after the opening it then becomes quite turgid, but the first few phrases Rocks!

In the end we had Vide Cor Meum, which appears in the opera and closing titles of the film Hannibal for me to enter to.
Signing the register and exiting we had The more I see you sung by Michael Buble.
Very nice. :)

We had no music as well.
Wednesday my fiance said " shall we get married next Monday. It`s Market Day so we can have a look round the market after"
Special Licence and the Monday after 4 of us ,his sister who never believed he would get married and a lady of 87, deaf as a post and us two went to the Registry Office, got married. Looked round the market. Then went to a pub for lunch. We took the lady home. The sister left and on the night we went to the Bingo and won £25.
No music but life was a song all the time we were married till he died 12 years ago

Fantastic :) that's the way to do it - just slip out when nobody's looking ;)
Nope, no music, we got married in a registry office, during Mr Eeyores and my summer holidays, because we had a spare day in our hols and thought it'd fill in the day. Went there, 10 of us in total including us two, went to the pub next door for a quick drink afterwards then home to walk the dogs!
I had the full church do, so my music was quite traditional. I came in to Pachabel's Cannon. We signed the register to the love segment of Les Mis (our organists choice as a surprise for us. she knew we loved the show;)) and we left to Widor's Toccata.
The reception was all ceilidh music :D

We had Shania Twain's0 "Still the One at the ceremony and the reception." The wedding was only last year and I can't remember the other songs we had!
I'm struggling to remember the song we had our first dance to, I just remember we were swaying round in circles trying not to make complete pr*ts of ourselves!

We only had a small registrar do and pub lunch afterwards. The jukebox was on in the background, that is until someone said they were going to put on Run to the Hills by Iron Maiden then the Jukebox plug was yanked out of the wall.
