I was wondering if we could buy something to add to the glass to make it obscure/frosted.

What is on the market and where can I buy it?

Many thanks

DG

The trouble with vertical blinds is that you have to dust them regularly!!!

I've seen a product that you spray on windows and it gives a frosted effect - I might give this a try.

My current net curtain keeps getting dirty and smell of cooking etc so I want to get rid. I can't have plain glass as:

A) the troll could see in

B) he would see me flicking him the one fingered salute whenever he walks past!!!!

c) I'm not terribly good at keeping my kitchen tidy!!!

Bonkers Mad!!!

you can buy frosted glass spray from a craft shop such as hobby craft its called plasti-kote glass frosting

you can also buy sticky back plastic which is frosted and you can get a variety of designs, you can again get this from crfat shops or your local DIY store :)

I alsways like the idea of facing a mirror backwards in your window so if any one peers in all they see is their own ugly mug!

try this link (http://www.frostedstickybackplastic.co.uk/) for you frosted glass needs

Thanks for that - my landing window is right opposite my neighbours and he look through inot the bedroom - I have put up two sets of heavy voile - but I think Ill get that spray stuff. I dont mind one set of curtains but to have two makes it so dark.

I am discovering the wonders of a semi ;)

Hi DG,

I went for a wooden horizontal blind which can be tilted open (and closed when needed), it still lets the light in better than nets or covered glass. This was in our kitchen window so I grew a clamatis plant around the outside of the window as well just for good measure !!!

I turned around and the nfh was staring through the front window but thats another problem to deal with :o

Thanks Mumski,

I'm glad that you are enjoying your privacy. It really makes all the difference, doesn't it?

The only thing that concerns me is that our home has olde wolrde charm and would mirroed window film look a bit odd?

I've decided to give the spray can stuff a try and frost the window. I don't want to be able to see out, because my NFH makes my flesh crawl.

Just a quick update to say that I bought the spray for £6.00 from Ebay and applied it myself. I was really pleased with the result and now have privacy in my kitchen without the net curtains. Would recommend it to anyone!

Hi mumski

Do you think it would look odd with that mirror film all over a front bay window? Am I looking at a an extortionate amount of money to have 2 bay windows done, at a rough guess?

Thanks mumski, I'll have to try not to get carried away and do the whole house :D It sounds just the thing at the front, mainly because NFH's designated parking space is right outside my window grrrrr!

Hehe! I've put it up on one window and can I just say.......I love it!!! I feel like such a child, I want to do more, can't wait to do the main lounge window now. I've got some left and I keep thinking I can get it to fit somewhere else which I really can't but dam I want it to so much :lol::lol::lol:

I've enjoyed putting it up too but I'm a bit of a DIY freak anyway, thought it would be more fiddly but it's really not that bad.

I got the reflective black which is a little more subtle than reflective silver but it also makes my windows look cleaner than they did before, good stuff because I don't like cleaning them much.

Well worth the money!!!!

Gallery Glass by 'plaid' is great to use, you apply it and it makes the glass appear frosted, and you can add colour, but when you are fed up with it, it simply peels off :)
