dictaphone help needed: Sony M-527V

Hello

I just received my ebay purchase, a SONY M-527V. It has batteries but no tape. Still, the thing ought to go through the motions when the right buttons are pressed.

Does anyone have one of these?

The record button doesn't seem to want to depress very far and won't lock when pressed with the play button either. The voice operated recording action doesn't appear to kick in when i talk loudly into it (I know it wont record anything without a tape but the mechanism ought, surely, to kick in anyway)

What am I doing wrong? Does anyone have an instruction booklet for one of these things? Let me know.....

I think you need a tape in there for the record button to be pressed, there is usually a small button like device in the corner oppoiste the tape reader (the big silver thing that comes down when you press the play button), if you press that button, you shoudl be able to press the record button. I don't think the thing is broken, I would just get a tape and put in there to see if it works :) If it is broken, you can always return it or give a very very bad feedback :devil:
