it was minus 5 here last night and they, the weather man says it will between minus 5 and minus 8 tonight, with a stong possiblitiy of snow :cold: thats bad, it means the snow will fall on top of the ice and it will be dangerous out there
do take care all :cold:

Where I live it has always been sludge. At the end of the day, unless your studying for an English degree, does it really matter? My sludge is your slush, same as my swede is someones else turnip etc etc

Yep, and like others here, I have family history all over the British Isles and it is fascinating to hear what different things are/have been called
Some of the things passed down through my diverse British family history still have me scratching my head  I think it is lovely though
Anyway, seriously, I think we are all going very off topic here  , so let's all keep to the original topic now please, which is about severe snow forecast in the next few days.

We have been forecast up to six inches of snow here, tonight!
So I have decided in my wisdom, I will be working from home tomorrow. There is no way i am going to drive in snow on the motorway with the strange drivers round here who think that it's perfectly OK to drive and a stupid speed and think they have enough time to stop.
The traffic news will be an hour long and whats the betting some schools will close, despite warnings?
I think I will stay in bed with my laptop and work all day there! Much nicer!!!

It's gorgeous here at the moment, blue sky, sunshine. Cold, but something quite 'magical' about wrapping up and seeing the sun!
And we should wake up to a lot of snow! Might have to sneak out in my lunch hour and build a snow man if there is enough (haven't made on in nigh on 10 years!).
Very sunny here too; blue skies; but same as elsewhere cold :cold:
We still hve a scattering of snow out the front of the house as it is north facing and the sun doesn't get round there :( Yesterday where we had some snow and it was freezing Tuesday night/Wednesday morning the palm trees in the front garden had little tiny icicles hanging off each leaf :o

We don't get much snow here now [maybe tonight though :D ] The kids here go mad when they see snow - it is so rare to see :(l so am prepared for hyper kids tomorrow

Mr T has a sledge. It is a beautiful one from New England allwooden with ski things on the bottom.Unfortunately we don't usually have much use for a sledge.
Weather men have been going on all day about us getting 6 to 7 inches (Oh er!!) down here, but on BBC site it says we will just get sleet.
Will have to wait and see I suppose. LT has broken up from school today, so hibernating now!!

Well, we've just had some snow up here. It lasted about 15 minutes and isn't very deep. I'm hoping for more. Might get a snow day from work :hihi: Then again, last time we had snow, my school was the only one in the area too stay open :banghead:

i just took the dog out (really briefly, just long enough for a wee) and we have more than the couple of cms i originally said, its more like 4 inches and its getting heavier  the dog loved it, i didnt
Was snowing here about 9pm last night then it stopped after an hour. This morning we have snow, only about 2-3cms, but it's minus 2 degrees, so bitter cold, and very slippy outside. The dogs loved it and were snuffling at the snow. We were the only ones out and about and got to walk in fresh snow, lovely.
I have advised Eeyores mam not to go out today ;) Not after she fell a few years ago on ice.
Roads were snowy (but hey, I've got 4WD) and an accident in the centre of town but I still got to work in no more time than normal. Only thing was I had to second guess where my parking space was as I couldn't see the number painted on the road, thankfully mine has a little orange dot on the railings in front
It's very grey outside, more snow forecast, hope Mr Eeyore is ok, he has his car at work and it's a swine in snow ;)

:( Snow in the midlands still falling and getting quite bad, got 2 kids at home, primary school shut, my son is at school in the next town and has just text to say the buses aren't running and they are closing at 2.30 so i have to pick him up, will also need to pick hubby up as he is in next town in opposite direction and my daughter is at a school over 20miles away via motorway and she is now texting every 5mins begging me to pick her up as she doesn't want to wait for the coach at 4pm which by then may be cancelled anyway. arrgh. Now trying to find a babysitter so i don't have to take the younger 2 with me as I know i'm going to end up having an accident and would rather they weren't in the car.
On the plus side, took the younger 2 to a local wood first thing before it got so bad and we had a great time and have some lovely pics.

 @ ice age, I guess we have nothing better to talk about!
hardly a smattering of snow here although we have been warned to get some later :cold:
I've contacted my son's school direct, and they tell me they have no plans on closing early, they have just cancelled session 3 with starts at 4pm so no idea where he got that info from, must be wishful thinking. And they tell me they expect the buses to be running normally by then, can't see how its coming really heavy still. My daughters coach is still running, have to decide what is safer, her on the coach or me driving there and back. Think i will trust her to the coach driver as i'm sure his driving skills are better than mine plus in an accident think a coach would come off better than my little car. Still have to fetch hubby though.

About 2 inches where I am, but worse further into town as we are on low ground.
It had melted and started sleeting by midday though! The schools were closed, don't know why as all the main roads were clear and our estate wasn't too bad either. The parents managed to get their kids over the park!
Very, very cold though. :cold:
Our snow was all gone before lunch :(
Funny thing at work though. No-one could se the parking spaces in the car park so we were trying to judge it. I left tonight and everyone was parked perfectly in every bay  Most had parked better than usual.

Snow all gone and saw the first snowdrops and daffodils today at the zoo.
Rained this afternoon and still bitterly cold. :cold:
after yeserdays disapointing effort the snow has reached us this evening, has been snowing since about 6pm and the weather man says it will last for 18 hours!!! :o dont know where he got that number from though! :D
and its settling but we are hard up here and a bit of snow is no bother! :D
snowed all day for the second day here today, and it took my daughter 3hrs 40mins to get home from school, usually takes 20mins. My brother and his girlfriend can't get home at all. the roads by them are completely blocked so they have had to stay at a friends. serves them right for moving to a barn conversion in the middle of nowhere lol.

A new EU directive has arrived, NO more can we make all WHITE SNOWMEN. This is sexist and racist. In future SNOWWOMEN and ethnic snowmen must be included in any collection of snowmen. Government inspectors will be out, spying in your area, please check your gardens to see if you have the correct mix of snowpersons.
Bonkers Mad!!!

any snowperson made in my garden would be piebald, is that allowed?
