View Full Version : Buying a PC Online - Recommendations?

Can anyone recommend an online, non-cowboy service to purchase new PC's? :lmao:

Perhaps a seller, in the UK, who will build customised PC's to order and not charge rip-off prices?

Few years back I always used to use Gateway UK, but of course they don't sell to the UK anymore AFAIK. I might have to try locally otherwise, but Dell seem to have some great offers, but there's less scope to add things in yourself with their machines.

Any links/pointers really welcome - thanks in advance. :)

I usually get my stuff from Aria (I do have to admit I get bibs and bobs to build mine, not sure about the compelete PC but worth a look. Novatech does some decent stuff as well but is slightly higher in price. Now there is another one but the name has escaped me so I will find out more tomorrow from my colleague.

I've only ever used Dell for a self build package. I now have HP media centers simply because they are faster with editing packages such as final cut pro.

I have two laptops but only use one for storage photos/and footage and the other as a workhorse for writing articles. I'm not terrible pc ;), but have to say touch wood never had any trouble with these.

The first pc I bought years ago was a Time ........don't even go there

PS Police use Dell so they must be good

Thanks for the pointers everyone - good links/info. :)

BM - I like your link, looks interesting - you'll have to let me know if you're satisfied with the service/PC. I'm also going to look at CCL Computers who I've used quite a few times in the past (v, v, good prices). B)

We only use DELL here at work, and I have to say other than a wait every now and then, they have been ver good.

Dabs are also good as well. I wouldn't stray far from either of those as their after sales service tends to be rubbish.

I think I might look at a local comapany to build one for you, I have heard good things about some of the smaller firms in my area

good luck with it any way :)
