Will turn up the central heating and hibernate under my duvet! I'm not designed for cold weather!

Mr DG can go though - he's as tough as old boots!

I love how my garden looks when it's snowed. But I hate driving on icy roads, walking on the pavements is dodgy too.

That's just soooooo typical; we are due to go down to Kent next wednesday and I do not want to get snowed in down there

I hate travelling if it is snowing  I like to be tucked up indoors in my own home all nice and warm

I hadn't seen snow for 20 years until I moved up here, the first winter it looked wonderful, then disaster........ I used to get snowballs with pieces of brick stuck inside them thrown at the windows, add to that being snowed in as they don't grit villages and the charm wore off.

Last year of course I was in hospital for the whole of the winter - so at least I saved on the heating bills
I don't like the cold :( Give me sunshine and beaches and pina colada everytime B)

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Green Eyed Girl @ 21st January 2007 - 11:48 AM) 229098</div>Hi Sparrow
S: Thanks for your concern,. I am thinking that to, as the snow has become really dense over the last 10 minuets.

It was raining last night, and the snow is sitting on the ground now.

So I hope this is a one off flurry, and that is it.

Now it has suddenly gone quiet now, long may it last

:notworthy:

Does it get really bad where you are then geg? Mr s has worked in Inverness and Aberdeen before at this time of year but it wasnt too bad - just snow on the mountains then.

When we have a bit of snow round here everything grinds to a halt!! I dont know what would happen if we had a big snow fall!!!

Sunny here in Kent, with a few large black clouds.

Beautiful day, but bl**dy http://bestsmileys.com/winter/14.gif

Have put the heating on and have an extra blanket on the sofa!

I don't think we are forecast much snow in Kent. Temp is 3 as a high on Tuesday and Wednesday though. http://bestsmileys.com/winter/25.gif

Where we are, it rarely gets 'extreme' other than the recent storms. It's cold, but not freezing yet. We have an indoor thermometer which takes the temp in two rooms (cabins), and it's been getting down to 15 at night with the fire going, so any colder we will need loads more layers.

I like the snow, but I wish it would just fall on gardens and fields and place where it's safe, and not on roads. I just worry when it's been snowing that people who think they are immortal get in cars and end up killing innocent people.

I hope all of you who are having snow stay safe and warm. Now is the time to make sure you have supplies in your car boot. Drinks, food, blankets, torches etc. If I go anywhere more than an hour away, I always take a flask on cold days too. You never know do you, and if you don't need it, someone else might.

Stay safe everyone.

Hope you get your heating back soon SP. Get on your exercise bike - that will keep you warm for a bit!

 @stoney

I have got my exercise bike in place ready  http://bestsmileys.com/exercising/2.gif

We do at least have an electric fire in the living room, so it is a good excuse for me to stay in here all day in front of the fire

I have just got back in and am fairly cosy in front of the fire already, but if I have to leave this room, it's bbbbrrrrrrr :( http://bestsmileys.com/cold/11.gif

Well I woke up expecting snow and ice, nothing  GMTV had a reporter live at the depot over the road from us, blethering about the cold, and I'm thinking, there is no ice, no snow, not even a frost and it's 4 degrees here

What big chill? ;)

22-01-07, 10:35 AM
It is meant to hit Kent tomorrow. It is meant to be 3 degrees here on Tues and Weds.

The thing is shouldn't it be 3 degrees in the winter anyway?

Was watching that programme on Climate Change last night and that was scary!

We have hard frost and some icy patches. No snow, sleet or hail though!

I have to go to work tonight, so deicer at the ready for when I come out at 3am!! :cold:

The programme was on BBC1 with David Attenborough. It was very good and looked ahead to 2080 for what our weather will be like. No snow in Scotland, just loads of rain. The Fens and where I live could vanish under water!!

According to sky news the big chill is here!!

http://news.sky.com/skynews/article/0,,300...3564147,00.html (http://news.sky.com/skynews/article/0,,30000-13564147,00.html)

It says roads are closed in North Derbyshire and Yorkshire! Here (not far from Derby) its very cold but blue skies and sun! We had a bit of sleet about half 11 time and thats been it!

One good thing about husband being on nights - I can send him to stand shivering in the playground waiting for the kids at home time!!

Hope everybodys ok in this weather :)

22-01-07, 02:48 PM
I'm still waiting for heating repair man :badmood:

sp54
22-01-07, 03:52 PM
:badmood: Well, the repair men are here now and can't fix it today :badmood: They have to replace the pump, and something else, and drain the system etc and need more time as I have to do the school run and they won't stay here on their own.

They are lending us a hot air blower though.

Fan bloomin' tastic :badmood:

Why did I look at those pics   My already freezing bones are even colder now

That's what the inside of my house looks like today :(

Poor minisp has just filled every single hot water bottle and microwaveable heat bag thingys to try and get warm and I have text mr sp to tell him to come home via a shop that sells heaters and buy some.

This is like being a kid again when we had no central heating at all :(
