PM's adviser arrested in honours probe
Downing Street political adviser Ruth Turner has been arrested on suspicion of perverting the course of justice by police investigating the cash-for-honours allegations .
The government has confirmed Ms Turner, a senior adviser to the prime minister, had been arrested but was later released without charge.
Police are investigating whether people have been nominated for honours after giving money to political parties.
About 90 people have been questioned. All those involved deny any wrongdoing.
The inquiry began after it emerged that a number of large secret loans had been made to the Labour Party before the 2005 general election, and that some of those lenders had subsequently been nominated for peerages.
The investigation has since widened to cover the other main parties.
Tony Blair is among those who have been questioned by police over the issue, although he was not arrested and not questioned under caution.
Ms Turner, the director of government relations, effectively the main link between Number 10 and the Labour Party, was questioned by police about the allegations in September.
Ms Turner also arranges visits for Mr Blair as well as charity receptions and other events at Number 10.
Downing Street said the Prime Minister had full confidence in Ms Turner.
"She is still in her job,'' a spokeswoman said.
She added that any police investigation had to be allowed to run its course.
"With all police investigations, it is important they are allowed to run their course and conclusions aren't jumped to,'' she added.
