Just seen this on sky news website - 12 ways to live longer according to researchers :)

1)Get Married

A 20-year-study by the University of Warwick found that married men live an average of three years longer than single ones

2)Laugh :hihi:

Laughing out loud improves circulation as much as exercise, according to researchers at the Centre for Preventative Cardiology at Maryland University, US.

3)Eat Tomato :eatin:

A portion of tomato added to your sandwich each day can slash the risk of heart disease by nearly a third, say researchers at Harvard Medical School.

4)Read Upside Down

Challenging your brain by reading upside down or writing with your opposite hand extends the lifespan of cells and increases life expectancy, say researchers in The Sun newspaper.

5)Control Your Temper

Getting angry causes permanent damage to the body, particularly to lungs, which makes people age more quickly, according to the journal Thorax.

6)Meditate ;)

Meditating for ten to 20 minutes each day improves emotional well-being, lowers blood pressure and reduces muscle tension.

This increases resistance to infections and disease and prolongs life expectancy.

7)Aim To Excel :wow:

Oscar winners live nearly four times longer than other actors because of their increased sense of self-worth and confidence.

8)Lose Weight :hiding:

Obese people are more likely to suffer from heart disease and Type 2 diabetes, which can reduce life expectancy by up to ten years.

9)Go To Church

Having a faith is linked to lower mortality rates, according to the US National Insititute for Healthcare Reserach, so visit your church, mosque or synagogue.

10)Stop Snoring

Snoring can be a sign of obstructive sleep apnoea, which means you are five times more likely to have a heart attack, according to the European Respiratory Journal.

11) Wash Your Hands 8-X

Washing your hands often can help almost half the risk of picking up respiratory infections such as flu.

12)Have A Pint

Drinking beer in moderation helps protect against heart disease, cancer and strokes, research published in The Sun shows.

I think Mr stoney would beg to differ (poor man!)

2)Laugh :hihi:

Laughing out loud improves circulation as much as exercise, according to researchers at the Centre for Preventative Cardiology at Maryland University, US.

I haven't giggled to the point of not being able to breathe or almost wetting myself since we went camping to Wales one year and mr stoney thought he saw a man in a reflective jacket coming towards him on the campsite (we were the only ones at the time and the 'man' was a tree!).

3)Eat Tomato :eatin:

A portion of tomato added to your sandwich each day can slash the risk of heart disease by nearly a third, say researchers at Harvard Medical School.

YUM!

4)Read Upside Down

Or you colud witre rlleay sragntley and tax yuor biarn!

Never happens - often!

6)Meditate ;)

Meditating for ten to 20 minutes each day improves emotional well-being, lowers blood pressure and reduces muscle tension.

This increases resistance to infections and disease and prolongs life expectancy.

Find me a spare 10 minutes and I'll happily meditate!

7)Aim To Excel :wow:

Oscar winners live nearly four times longer than other actors because of their increased sense of self-worth and confidence.

Anyone got any spare oscars lying around?

8)Lose Weight :hiding:

Obese people are more likely to suffer from heart disease and Type 2 diabetes, which can reduce life expectancy by up to ten years.

My resoultion for this year, lose weight, feel great!

9)Go To Church

Having a faith is linked to lower mortality rates, according to the US National Insititute for Healthcare Reserach, so visit your church, mosque or synagogue.

Can't do this one, don't have a faith.

10)Stop Snoring

Snoring can be a sign of obstructive sleep apnoea, which means you are five times more likely to have a heart attack, according to the European Respiratory Journal.

I need to have words with mr stoney then.

11) Wash Your Hands 8-X

Washing your hands often can help almost half the risk of picking up respiratory infections such as flu.

I do faithfully at work, everytime I use the bathroom, which is more than can be said for the some of the women I work with - yuk!

12)Have A Pint

Drinking beer in moderation helps protect against heart disease, cancer and strokes, research published in The Sun shows.

Read upside down according to the Sun? don't the pictures look odd that way? :P

And if it feels longer being married, then fine as far as I am concerned at the moment, (ask me again in about five years though!)
