In their defence (and in a sad and anoraky kind of way) there is only one lake in the Lake District! All the others are Waters or Meres!
(and todays trivia answer is Bassenthwaite Lake, created when they flooded the village of Bassenthwaite, you can still see the houses if you dive!) :geek:
Happy New Year again

Ohmigod, who feeds the Loch Ness Monster? :hihi: :P No way
Having said that, a few weeks ago where I work (local authority, Countryside group) we had a caller say he'd been in the country 2 days and needed to register with a doctor, could we give him a number! He was also not from our region at all!!!! :hihi:
We often get ones saying "what times are the trains" - simply because near to one of our sites is a private railway :hihi:

I actually wonder how many are genuine and how many are urban myth and also how many are wind ups!
Years ago there was a tale of an overheard tourist in Princes St Gardens in Edinburgh, proclaiming "Gee what a beautiful castle! Such a shame they built it so close to the railway track"
Good stories to raise a giggle none the less! ;)

I was once asked for directions to Loogabaroo by an Australian at Charnock Richard Services, took a bit of an effort not to laugh when we finally discovered it was ...... Loughborough! :innocent:
