View Full Version : Npower Messing With Accounts

For about the third or fourth time in the last year or so nPower have sent me a replacement card for my token meter. Very nice of them, but I didn't request one - the one I had was perfectly fine.

They have also closed my account in the past without so much as a letter or 'phone call to find out if I still wanted to use them.

The reason?

Today I received a letter:

"We note that you have not used your card for some time. We have sent a replacement" (or words to that effect).

Does it escape their tiny minds that I have not used the card because I have not needed to top up the meter? I only use about £30 per quarter. Sometimes not even that!

Anyone else have this problem?

As soon as I find time I'm going to look for another supplier. I really don't want the hassle from nPower - nor do I want to risk any payments I make going astray because they can't run a token meter accounting system.

I started out with BG and moved to nPower when BG started increasing prices a couple of years ago. It was clear they didn't want customers. I had problems with their final bill/statement - their final reading was a lot higher than nPower's initial reading.

Unfortunately my local council gave their service contract to BG and since then they have made appointments and failed to visit four times, leaving me waiting in all day when I should have been out working. The last time they did kindly offer compensation for the four failed visits - £10 per visit plus a discretionary payment of £10 for the inconvenience. I charge a minimum of £150 per day for my work so I politely told them they'll be hearing from the small claims court.

I don't think there's any realistic probability of me switching to BG!

Hi crazy dog :)

Have you tried entering all your details into that website that searches for the best deal with the gas/electric suppliers - I think its called uswitch.com.
We are with EDF energy and have been since we moved to and half years ago. We have always found them to be fine! And always helpful when you ring up

We have never been with BG at this house - but it didnt stop them sending us bills and then letters threatening us with a warrant form court to enter our home to disconnect our gas supply even after we rang and rang them to sort it ! We were promised a letter of apology and compensation for their mistakes at the beginning of the year - we are still waiting!

Hope you get it sorted
