View Full Version : Family In Corfu

Did you see the news about the family that went to Corfu for the half term holiday but the two children were found dead, and the mother and father are in a coma in a local hospital there.

They suspect poisoning but they don't know why or how they could have ingested it? They don't think it was a suicide pact, although neighbours heard them arguing (or loud talking at least) in the early hours.

They said they had to send the toxicology report off to another island and it will not be back for 20 days? That's amazing. This is two deaths and two life threatening conditions from one family under very suspicious circumstances and they are going to take 20 days to see what's what?

I find that totally unacceptable. I mean, given that none of the other people there on holiday have been effected by anything makes you wonder whether this was a deliberate attempt on their lives, they were taking their own lives, or it was a very, very tragic accident.

I would hate to think it was anything bu tragic, but what a way to end a holiday.

It is very tragic

On the news just now they have apparently found that the poison was inhaled, not ingested, and are investigating the air con :(

There's a lot of speculation about this at the moment. It seems odd, to me, that only one family was affected. I'd want to know that other guests at the hotel are not at risk. I'd want answers quicker than 20 days but if that's how long it takes to positively identify the toxin what more could I do but wait?

A very sad event for a lot of people.

It's a tragic story which could have been avoided. All hotel rooms should have smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors installed.

Did you see that quite a few other people who had stayed in that room had been hospitalised too? It had been diagnosed as food poisoning or gastro-enteritis and they were sent home!
:banghead:
And that was after tests too - why was CO not picked up???

My understanding is that work was done on the air-con during the week preceding the incident. Only one couple suffered prior to the deaths but this was incorrectly diagnosed as gastroenteritis.

CO monitors - an excellent idea. Those little 'dot' ones that change colour are cheap and disposable. Keep a few in your luggage.

I agree as already mentioned they are so cheap, i was sent some free in the post when i changed energy supplier, but even if they were not frr they would be worth every penny.
