It sounds really bad, bbc news 24 are promising an update from the hospital at 11pm, i'm praying it will be positive news.

I saw this in a news flash whilst watching 'Wire in the Blood' (Great it's back), and felt awful. I know their jobs are dangerous with some of the stunts they do, but you never really think they will actually get hurt.
I think he's such a nice bloke as well, so I do hope he gets a speedy recovery sent his way and he is back soon.
My thoughts are very much with his family.
Come on Richie boy, get better soon. Top gear needs you!
I hope Richard is ok and makes a afull recovery
He's a great presenter and comes across as a likeable, down to earth
My thoughts are with him and his family

He is making an amazing recovery so far.... he's made of strong stuff! :D
I hear he's very upset at talks to postpone or cancel Top Gear - I should think so too, accidents happen
Go hamster! :D

What happened to Richard Hammond was nothing more than an accident. If a lighting gantry falls on a news-reader's head will that be the end of the news?
IMHO - if the BBC try to cancel, or even tame, Top Gear the production team and presenters will set up independently and make a fortune. Top Gear is one of the most successful programs ever made. Richard Hammond's accident will only increase the viewing figures. The BBC would be foolish to change or destroy it.
