During the past few months we have been inunadated with stupid starlings  No not in the garden...........but down our chimney

We've counted at least 10 within a couple of months; each time we have to open the french doors the move the fire so they can fly straight outside :banghead:

Although we had a cowl on top of the chimney it seemed to attract these stupid birds, they'd climb underneath the cowl and just drop down; I decided we had to have a new cowl fitted so tried to get one fitted; the earliest it could be done was yesterday unfortunately for us!!! We had to go away for a few days last week and when we got home on our hearth were feathers and white fluffy packing from the fire - no noise it was quiet behind the fire - so when I pulled the fire out there were two dead starlings laying there - the smell was aweful 8-X

I managed to clean it all up and put the birds all wrapped up in the recycling bin

Now the new cowl is fitted I am hoping this is the last we have birds down the chimney

Just an observation has anyone else noticed (or is it just in our garden?) the starlings are different in colour? There seems to be more white on the feathers and their heads are more a mink colour? I thought they were just babies getting their adult feathers but there seems to be an aweful lot of them about and they are feeding more aggressively.

Bonkers Mad!!!
