Did you see tonight with Trevor McDonald last night about the fraudsters that deliberately cause car accidents in order to claim compensation and insurance fraud?

I was totally shocked at this, and it has made me all the more wary of something happening. The advice given was to have a disposable camera in your car to take pictures of any accident you do have. Take pictures of the car, the passengers (if any), and driver, and log the number plate of the car (always, always do this), and take any notes you including those of any witnesses you see.

They virtually said that even if this did happen, chances are the police would show zero interest as a couple who were found guilty of this crime were just given community service orders.

I'm sorry to say, it just goes to show the police's complete lack of interest in this country. If it's not a big drug ring they don't seem bothered at all. Sad state of affairs!

they seem to be more than happy with sitting back and letting the traffic police rake it in. Everything else has gone to pot

I totally agree with you Stoney. It doesn't seem to occur to them that big time criminals all start out out small time criminals. I believe it has been shown in American cities like New York that a zero tolerance to all crimes has a big and immediate effect in terms of crime reduction. I think it's time we took a leaf out of their book and had elections for key public figures like police chiefs etc.

Can you imagine your NfH being the Sherrif? I have professional friends in the states who would die happy if they could get and I quote "the emotional retards and busybodies out of City Hall and let them do their jobs" not all elected officials are great, Tony B Liar anyone?

It's shocking actually that the insurance fraud is just one thing of hundreds that go on but without the media that is television, radio, newpapers etc, we would never find out about it until it happened to us.

Scary, and makes you wonder what else they are not telling you, such as there could well be an enormous no hoper of a metorite heading straight for us, and they would probably give us 10 minutes warning if we were lucky.

Sometimes, I think i'd rather not know.

When I told my police sergeant when he attended a criminal damage incident, that I believed this country should follow America's lead on Zero Tolerance, his reply astounded me
'Well you've got to give them some leeway, havent you'?

No
