hi sassie

first you have to find out if the phone you have is unlocked to all networks if it is then you can just buy an 02 sim card put it in the phone and bobs your auntie

if it isnt you can get them unlocked at certain shops also consider getting a genie sim card from 02's web site brilliant for text messaging as long as you top up with ten pounds each month you get 300 free texts

That is really annoying :(

We have 02 and are happy enough with it except if we ever go away!! We couldn't get a signal in Cornwall in some villages, and in others had to do contortions to get a signal

Orange is supposed to be good for most areas.

They should have advised you in the shop if you bought it locally. Is it worth going back to complain?

Hi sassie

Didn't the shop check the network coverage for your postcode area? Although sometimes that's not too accurate - coz apparently I am able to get Orange (yeah, right, once in 18months when the wind's blowing the right way!) but the only network I can get at all is Vodafone, which claims to have the best coverage of more difficult areas. If they didn't do this check, I'd go back and complain.

Or it might be the case that your actual phone has a poor aerial - does anyone else around you use O2 OK? I ask because Mr Smoo's phone often has a good signal when mine has nothing at all! Even though I have a signal booster attached to my battery (well, 2 of them actually! This is a miserable reception area in general!)

Remember you have rights to cancel any contract within 14 days anyway under Consumer Law.

Hope you get it sorted out OK!

If you are not unlocked then look on eBay for an unlocking code if you can do it yourself save some money, or take it to a phone shop and ask them to unlock it for you!

Also you can get a cheap O2 sim card with the 300 texts on eBay... I use to sell them on there!
