Hello folks..... please help.

(1) What do you clean them with in terms of products as so many say "do not use on enamel" and the ones that you can use are half useless?

(2) Has anyone had their bath re-enamelled or have you just given up and ripped it out and put a new one in?

(3) Has anyone tried to repair their enamel bath if it is peeling (and you can see the blue underneath)?

THANX!!! :D

Ah Yi Win..... you are a star!!!

Well the non-enamel sink had a dripping tap and produced a blue stain but I attacked it with Viakal. I am gutted that I cannot clean the bath with Viakal but I know that would be really wrong but Viakal is just so good!!!

The blue in the bath is actually where the enamel has peeled away completely.

The stains in the bath are yellow all down the sides and you can see where the water has run down it from the shower so really bad limescale that was not cleaned properly by the previous occupants.

I can't believe that you said Ecover...... I attacked it with Ecover cream cleaner the other night and it helped a little but I guess good old fashioned elbow grease needs to increase in effort.

Mmmmm, might have to think about the re-enamelling it seeing as it does not last all that long.

THANX!!!

I know you can get enamel repair paint - but it's really only for small chips - are you sure it's the blue showing below and not a stain?

Whats viakil? sounds wicked !

Hiya Yi Win..... it really is the blue showing below as I could start peeling the rest of the enamel off around it if I wanted - not that I will do that!! :D

Viakal is brilliant limescale remover but you must wear gloves when using it - it comes in a spray or in an ordinary plastic bottle - click on the link below for a picture

I must admit it is not in every supermarket and you cannot use it on enamel, gold fittings, etc, but it is fab, fab, fab. If you leave it on for a few mins it works even better - especially on plastic showers!!!

Yeah.... might have to get a new bath but it would be the only thing to replace as the loo + sink are new-ish.

Hula, we had an enamel bath in our last place, we were lucky it was not stained, but it was chipped. The previous owners had used an 'enamel repair kit' which is stuff you basically paint on over the chip but unfortunately the colour of the paint had 'aged' whereas the bath had not and the paint was a kind or cream colour whereas the bath was still white.

Cheers for that..... I think the previous occupants did that with the enamel tiles that surround the bath as well as some of the tiles are chipped so you see the blue underneath. There are big patches of tiles around the room that are cream (well not cream tiles but they were painted over with cream paint) and we wondered how that happened!!!
