:D In between all our problems this week, I appear to have had a birthday  . I have been given an i pod and since I am the holder of the title of Ms. Technophobe for the past decade or 4  it has taken me a while but I am getting to grips with it. The first 80 songs I spent ages choosing and put them on the i pod. Feeling very pleased with myself I went to put some more on and deleted the first 80 instead  :banghead:

Anyway, I am battling on, and trawling through my whole CD collection picking out all my fave songs from the past 40 years [since I was a new baby then  ]. Each one I am choosing has a special meaning - maybe reminding me of my schooldays, first job, one for each boyfriend [ that was the first 80 then  ] year I met mr. sp, when the kids were born, special holidays, special people etc. etc.

So what are your top fave tunes, and why? :music:

Some of mine are - in no particular order -

Hey Jude - The Beatles ........reminds me of when I was at school

Spirit In The Sky - Norman Greenbaum ..................reminds me of a fab school trip

My Cherie Amour - Stevie Wonder ...........first boyfriend

Lets Spend The Night Together - Rolling Stones...............not telling you why  :P

Tiger Feet - Mud ..............Student Nurse discos

Moonlighting - Leo Sayer ............first time mr.sp and I went away together

All The Young Dudes - Mott The Hoople ...........A Greek Marine I met on a school cruise in Rhodes, who turned up in England while I was in hospital having my tonsils out and scared the life out of my parents cos I hadn't told them about him

Close To You - The Carpenters ................The first record I ever bought [ before you even think of working it out, I was 2 :P ]

I could go on all night :D

Happy days, and sweet memories [sigh]

I like Without You by Nillson too, er, and have put it on my i pod [ ooh, get me ;) ] but it also has sad memories, so I have to listen to it according to my mood

Noisestopper - leather jackets and green hair :D ahh, those halcyon days, eh :)

Dibuzz - it totally depends on my mood too - though I have never been a fan of Ken Dodd myself  .

This week has been a bit difficult, so most of my choice has reflected that. Need to choose some more 'upbeat' songs as well :)

I like the song Amsterdam by Coldplay. :D

I find the piano melody very soothing and it builds up beautifully toward the end.

It's a soul/rock song and it is the last song on A Rush of Blood to The Head.

my favourite line from "Amsterdam" is:

"Say what you mean, but it won't change a thing
I'm sick of the secrets,
Stood on the edge ties to the noose,
you came along and you cut me loose"

I also love the "ooooohhs" and the water noise at the beginning of the song

Stand and deliver & Prince Charming by Adam and the Ants

Comfortably Numb & Another Brick in the Wall - Pink Floyd (Another Brick was the first record I ever bought when I was 9)

Some Simon and Garfunkel

Some Steeleye Span (honest :D )

Lots of Bon Jovi, AC/DC and Guns'n'Roses

Can you tell I'm a child of the 80s
