We have just had a horrendous storm

Torrential rain, thunder, lightening & a hailstorm; in fact there were hailstones on our lawn  .

Driveway etc was flooded for a while but soon dried up just before another storm which was not so violent!

Electricity tripped out twice - just as I was posting

Garden could do with the rain but trouble is it dries out too quick, temperature went from a hot sticky 35 degrees to a cooler 20 degrees in a matter of minutes :o

Hark................I hear thunder AGAIN  oh well at least it's filling up the two water butts :hihi:

Has anyone else had a storm today?

Oh lordy you guys!

Where I am it seems to be getting away with it - it's only marginally more humid here but still very comfortable :) .

We are sposed to get thunder later today, I am not counting on it though  .

Annabel, go wet a towel and drape it over yourself :o . No migraines, d'you hear!!! :nono:

It's been horribly hot here today in south west London/ north Surrey :(

We have had storms forecast for later though, and it has started to cloud over and getting quite dark now. Hope it's not as ferocious as the one the other night :badmood:

I'm almost praying for rain in Essex lol, it might just cut this terrible closeness for a while anyway.

We'd better have one here soon!

I can see a storm between us and the North of France on the lightning detection website but it seems it's tracking further east and may miss us (Brighton's probably having a lovely one at the moment). There's also another over the northern part of Norfolk. If anyone's interested, here's the link:

Live lightning data in the UK (http://www.isleofwightweather.co.uk/live_storm_data.htm)

But here, the humidity is dreadful, the sky looks v. threatening and I have a headache developing which is due to the air.

Bring it on, please!

Miss Understood, never thought I would find myself watching where the storms are on that website but suddenly it seems really interesting to me, think this heat has addled my brain lol.

We've had a tiny bit of rain, a bit of lightning, a bit of thunder and increasing humidity but nothing substantial

It's unbearable humidity and heat wise at the moment.

Indoor temp is 25.5, outdoor temp is 22.6

Arggghh

Up here we've had nothing, no storms, rain, hail, just hot sun, the odd bit of cloud and it's very humid

This is the north, it always rains here, except this summer. It'll rain the next 2 weeks though cos I'm having 2 weeks off work :P

A storm passed my way just after midnight, a few flashes & the odd rumble then lots of rain for about 1/2 hour & it was over, not like the poor s*ds on tv this morning having their house nearly demolished by the lightning.

We're just about to get our second storm today, I can hear it rumbling in the distance.

A house 2 streets over was hit earlier, not too much damage I can see apart from frazzled wires on the outside luckily

We've just had another storm and some beneficial rain; not as bad as yesterday tho and it feels quite cool outside..... inside is a lot warmer and have fans going all over the house.. Expect more humidity soon

The weather is very choosey as to where it will rain at the moment; spoke to both mums in Kent and they are green with envy; especially mother-in-law as she has a large garden and waters the plants that dad-in-law has planted from seed (as he has been taken into hospital terminally ill and she doesn't want his plants to die  ). Last night hubby, whilst speaking to mum, took the phone outside and said to her listen - it was chucking it down hail & rain - she could hear it and was quite upset and said how mean of him - she wanted him to send some down :hihi:

I've just been talking to my son in Herne Bay and I could hear the thunder it was right above him!!! It was going on for a long time and his back garden has about 2" of rain flooding his garden! When I lived down there I used to love watching the storms out at sea it was such a spectacular sight

 Well, 2 flashes and enough rain to fill a thimble as it disappointingly turned out :badmood: We need rain so badly here :(

Sorry folks, but the heat is apparently going to get worst in August :badmood:

I really wish it would storm properly here. Tonight is just as hot and humid as it was last night.

We did have storms in the town last night (one building got struck by lightning and a large fire ensued) but it was about a mile away from me.

We had didddly squat apart from some lightning flashes visible in the distance.

I chaired a meeting this afternoon in a community room which has glass in the roof and no means of ventilation. I think I only got things done so quickly because everyone wanted the meeting to end swiftly because of the heat!

Dear me, I never thought I'd say it, but please, roll on winter!

Still no rain, still no storm, just hot sun :P

Saw GMTV this morning though, some of those lightning strikes and storms, yikes, I'm glad they're not up here :(

I had got all geared up for a rip roaring storm and it was gone in a couple of minutes :badmood:

We went shopping in Brighton yesterday :D but coming home was really quite sad :( . If we drive over the south downs normally, there is a spectacular view of 'our green and pleasant land' but yesterday it was just, well, brown  . As far as the eye could see, brown fields :(

Please send rain south soon

Here on the South Coast, it was a lovely early morning, sunny, fresh. Then clouded over lunchtime. A few spots and spits of rain throughout the afternoon. My thermometer outside is registering a positively cool 19.5 degrees.

Maybe I'll be able to sleep properly tonight :D
